Mcnabb Wanted Buress
One player who didn't want to see free-agent WR Plaxico Burress sign with the Giants last week was Eagles QB Donovan McNabb. In fact, McNabb gave Burress a plug with Eagles coaches in the hopes Philadelphia would sign the former Steeler. McNabb and Burress have a long-standing relationship that dates back to their days as basketball players. They also have hung around at Pro Bowls and even spent time together during a game delay caused by an electrical storm last preseason. Burress and Terrell Owens would have been a dynamic combination for McNabb and the Eagles, and coach Andy Reid was interested in Burress. Reid was not interested in making the kind of financial commitment the Giants made, however. . . .
The reality of the Vikings trading WR Randy Moss is they got a lot more than LB Napoleon Harris and a first-round pick, which is what the Raiders gave them. Trading Moss freed up $22 million in salary over the next three years, and the Vikings subsequently went on a free-agent spending spree. Now, over the next three years, the Vikings will pay free-agent S Darren Sharper $10 million and free-agent DT Pat Williams $13.5 million. So one way to look at it is the Vikings have Harris, Sharper, Williams and the seventh pick in the draft instead of Moss. . . .
LT Jonas Jennings got big money from the 49ers--$36 million over seven years. But the 49ers have some unusual protection written into the contract. San Francisco's doctors obviously had concerns about a shoulder injury that has given Jennings problems in the past. If the team eventually cuts Jennings because of that injury, a clause in the deal prevents Jennings from filing a grievance against the team to collect remaining money on his contract. However, if the 49ers cut Jennings because of his shoulder, the $12 million they are paying him in signing bonus and option bonus money is his to keep. . . .
Why were the Chiefs so interested in signing S Sammy Knight? Only four teams had fewer takeaways last season. Since 1997, no active player has more takeaways than Knight's 46. The Chiefs hope Knight can give them leadership as well as takeaways. Knight has been replaced in Miami by Tebucky Jones. Interestingly enough, this is the second time Knight has been replaced by Jones, the other being in New Orleans in 2003. Both the Saints and Dolphins prioritized speed over instinct after seeing Knight, who is one of the slower safeties in the NFL, have problems running with receivers and tight ends. . . .
Even though the Dolphins released WR David Boston, it won't be a shock if Boston winds up in Miami again next season. Boston had a nice visit with the new coaching staff before his release, and the Dolphins have expressed an interest in bringing him back at a reduced salary. If Boston returns to the Dolphins, it probably will be after the draft. . . .
The Texans are breaking ties with LB Jamie Sharper, but it isn't because Sharper can't play anymore. In fact, he led the team in tackles last season and had 50 more than the next closest player. The problem is Sharper is 30 and entering the last year of his contract. The Texans don't want to extend Sharper's contract because they are focusing on youth. And the thinking is they can get something for him now in a trade, as opposed to letting him walk next season as a free agent.

What McNabb don't want he wanted T.O he got em, he even wanted James Thrash at once he got em... He probably wanted Randy Moss... He's not going to win a superbowl no matter who he got...

I have to say that I'm glad that he didn't get him. Buress and TO make a pretty respectable WR tandem.

I wonder what the Texans are asking for Sharper. I remember reading a 4th at one point. I wonder if they're willing to go into the season with him still on the roster or if he's a potential roster cut. If he's cut, then he'd be a good pick up at LB.

Burress will be a bust in NY, you've got to have a real QB to throw to your WR's. I am sorry, but I am not a believer in Eli Manning at all. That kid is gonna get laid out next year.

Maybe, but they really had no other choice. They have a young rookie QB with no weapons and no first round pick. Toomer is done. This was the Giants grasping at straws, but I agree, they'll be releasing him in a few years and sucking down a big salary cap number.

McNabb wants a championship too... But that isn't happening either.
I bet he'd like to stop LITERALLY choking in big games too.
"They say it makes your testicles shrink,'' Bonds said. "I can tell you my testicles are the same size. They haven't shrunk. They're the same and work just the same as they always have."

Ok when a Cowboy fan said McNabb wanted Burress I left alone the possible boyfriend references but now that you saying it I can't mention that the wording just doesn't sound right.
Sounds like he wants guys in the huddle who he can cuddle with.
But I still don't know what any team saw Thursday night that would have made them comfortable with waiting a round or two for the offensive lineman they wanted. ---Todd McShay
We just converted half our LB to DL. We have a 30m starting DL, it better be pretty friggin good.

Look at some of the guys who have been throwing Burress the ball throughout his career.
He will be just fine in New York catching passes from Eli Manning.
