Crystal Ball says...
The way it looks to me, 1 of 4 players will become a Cowboy on draft day....Picking at #11, certain players will be gone, both Qb's (Smith/Rodgers), 3 Rb's (Benson/Brown/Williams), that leaves 5 other picks prior to us grabbing our guy..If you add players such as Edwards, Williams, Barron, Merriman, Rolle, PacMan Jones you start getting a feeling on who may come to us....I see Parcells in love with Merriman, and he may be there...but his workouts probably have alot of other teams falling in love with him...
For me, it will be either Merriman, Barron, Williams or Rolle...1 of these 4, wouldnt mind any, they all would make a difference.....Look at the teams and look at their needs....I just hope the SKins dont screw it up, they scare me picking ahead of us.....
Let's hope Johnson or Spears falls to #20....

I was hoping I wouldn't have to state this any more after the signing of Anthony Henry but it seems a few remain that still believe we will draft a CB with our first pick...
Now I dont claim to know anymore than anyone else but I just dont think there would be anything more foolish than drafting a corner in the first round. I cant help but think that our coach feels the same way so I really dont see this happening and personally, Im glad.

At pick #20 or #42 if a CB is the BPA then I wouldnt mind taking him. Especially if its a corner that could play FS. He would start as the FS, plus drop down to the nickle corner spot on passing downs. Kinda what Woody use to do after his first two years in the league.
But in a perfect world with the first three picks the BPA will be a position of obvious need.

There's no guarantee that all three RBs will go in the top 10. Especially nowadays where RBs drop further then expected. Did anyone expect Jackson to drop out of the top 20 last year?

Now I agree with this. I think there is a very good possability that two of the top three go but not three. this is an extrememly deep draft at RB. I don't see three going in the top 10. Maybe not even in the first round. JMO.
I also think it's interesting that so many just assume Miami takes a RB. I would not at all be surprised to see them elect to go QB here. Especially if SF goes with Rogers.

I think Merriman and M Williams will both be gone...there's not much chance they draft Rolle or Barron IMO

I think last year proved you cant have enough CB's on your roster who can play.
We dont know if Henry or Newman will be healthy and who are our options if they go down? Hunter?
We could end up this year like we did last year if we dont get more depth at CB and I dont think you can pass on Rolle if he is there.
Rolle would be a welcomed edition to our team in my eye aswell as Mer/DJ/MW granted we cant get all 4 but those are the guys I would take with our first 2 picks.
I think we can make a HUGE splash in the draft if we play our cards right and maybe work into the playoffs with the editions we already have.
As of now we have 8 draft picks this draft and parcells will probably add another 2 or 3 during the draft (we need a 3rd rounder prior to the draft)

Interesting. I think last year proved that you need the ability to create pressure on the QB. If Rolle is the highest player on our board and if we cant work out a trade down, the OK. If not, I don't believe that taking Rolle is an opportunity we can't pass up.

i don't there's a chance in the world we take a cb at 11,none.how much do you think it would cost to pay an 11 pick? and then your gonna set him on the bench? just does'nt make any sence.so we move him to safety, which means you would never be able to sign him and even if you did.these guys are'nt safeties, there cb's.most have never played safety at all.so your gonna take a guy at 11,pay him cb money and then try to teach him a different position.bill and jerry is just not that dumb

I agree. I would prefer a DE, but if Rolle is our highest rated player then we should draft him. One injury to our CB position and our CB position becomes our weak spot again. Also, there will be plenty of DEs at Pick #20. If I had to guess today, I say we are definitely trading down from Pick #11. There is just too much depth at CBs and DEs.

I don't think we will take a corner because the difference between players is not that great in the top 15. But if Dallas thinks Rolle, et al are special players then they will make our defense better and we should take them.
I just see us badly needing DE, WR, LB, FS, and depth at OL, RB, and FB. More than anything we need a franchise QB, but there isn't one going to be available.

I don't think there is much depth at DE, especially in a 4-3. I definatly don't think there is depth for a pass rush DE. If our player is there at 11, that would be the best solution.

I don't any of those 4 becoming a Cowboy. No way DJ drops to #20 either.
This is a team who is battling several major injuries to
key players including Pro Bowl talents like Lee, Austin, Jenkins, Murray,
Carter and Ratliff. Other key starters missing include Costa, Smith, Church and
Coleman. That is 11 key players - that's half the starting lineup. Yet we still went 8-8.

i think its quite likely that a player someone covets will fall to 11, thus giving us some trade bait. we will trade out of that spot unless QB alex smith or WR williams is there, in which case we should grab him. i would rather trade down the 11 and keep the 20, as there will still be several quality players available then that fill a need also.

I disagree. Some of these players may be projected to be better in a 3-4, but I am willing to speculate that any one of them would be better than half our DL last year. I would be happy with any of the following DE/OLB in the first round:
David Pollack
Erasmus James
Marcus Spears
Shawne Merriman
Dan Cody
I also would be happy with the following in Round 2.
Matt Roth
Demarcus Ware
Justin Tuck
