Started watching the Boyz as a kid, watching Staubach throw the deep ball was awesome. I was hooked right away, followed them through the ups and downs but can proudly say the cowboys have a history of greatness.

...that any of us have a specific love of the Cowboys. Given another upbringing, residence in another city or early exposure to another team we would probably be fans of that particular team.
Truly we have only one thing in common, a love of the game of football as shown by the NFL. The Cowboys are a representation of that interest.
It would be weird to follow the Cowboys, but not watch the football game. If there is a person doing that then I would say they specifically love the Cowboys and only the Cowboys. (Too weird for me.)

I think she's jealous.

Just thank God she didn't ask you who you loved more; her or The Boys.
That would've been a tough one to explain.

Why do I love the Cowboys? Hmmm.
I've been a Cowboys fan since I was 7 years old. But I think the thing that really sealed the deal for me was that some of the best times I had with my Dad as a teenager was watching the Cowboys on Sunday afternoon. He was too old to go out and actually throw the ball around with me or anything like that (he was 53 when I was born). Watching the Cowboys with him was a bonding kinda thing. And all the Thanksgiving Days sitting around with my Dad and my brothers with an overstuffed stomach watching the Boys play was kinda special too. That coupled with the fact that I loved playing the game in High School and just love the game of football made me a life long fan.

Easy...
I loved the Cowboys since 1963, I've only been with my wife since 1979. You figure it out.

Started watching them in the mid 70's. I was 10,11 years old. My older brother was always my biggest rival so when Pittsburgh was matched up against the Boys in the Superbowl I naturally just went with the other team. Fell in love with em, been addicted ever since! Plus it seemed they all had cool sounding names back then. Thats important for a 10 year old ya know...LOL Billy Joe Dupree, TOO TALL Jones, DD Lewis, Preston and Drew Pearson, Golden Richards, Butch Johnson to name a few. Plus back in the regional days of the NFL on CBS the Cowboys were almost ALWAYS ON. Growing up in Wisconsin the packers sucked back then so they always got the early game ,the Cowboys the national late game. Combine that with MNF and Thanxgiving and I was able to see 10/11 games out of 14 back when the schedule was 14 games. The rest is history. Been one of my passions ever since.........

In fact, I often wonder if I hold some sort of FANatical record...LOL Have seen EVERY preseason, Regular season, and playoff game that was airing in my area since 1975. EVERY ONE. Since the advent of Sunday ticket now I literally see EVERY game..

I don't love the Cowboys or any other football organization, but I do love the game of football, the NFL is where it is best and I really love to see good football and I don't much care who makes great plays, I just want to see them and remember what is was like to make a great play. There's no feeling quite like it. Anybody who plays ball long enough will make a great play occasionally and the feeling is fabulous - kinda like that occasional great golf shot that keeps luring you back to the links.
The Cowboys have been my favorite team because they were the team of my adopted city, the place I chose to live. I like many other teams as well. I learned when the refs gave the Colts that early Superbowl, not to let my emotions become involved in football because the players aren't always the ones who determine who wins a game.
While the 'Pokes are my favorite team, I really don't care whether they win or lose or how any particular player does, I just want to see good football and whoever plays good football has my respect as an athlete.
I don't like Jerry Jones since I see him as a buffoon who bought the team in order to become the center of attention and buy the love and attention he likely feels deprived of as a child. While I think I understand why he is the way he is, he remains an egocentric childish boor who has wrecked the team with his poor decisions. I find that difficult to love or respect; however, I will give him credit for realizing at least some of his limitations and hiring competent help in the form of Parcells, who seems to have some problems of his own, but seems to be making progress anyway.
Who knows, deep down I may just be jealous of Jerry for being a richer obnoxious boor than I am. I may have to start extending him a little professional courtesy or something. Who knows? If lawyers and Pirhanas can work out a form of peaceful co-existance, maybe I can, too.
I'm not a raving fanatic, I don't have any Cowboys gear, except for that Coke glass that came free with a fill-up years ago. I'm a quiet fan who just loves the game. I long ago quit screaming and yelling and cussing the TV, refs, opponents, and being generally an obnoxious to be around during games. I enjoy the games more and am much better company. Learning to control my anger was the one thing that has brought me more pleasure and enjoyment than any other accomplishment I could have achieved. I finally saw what a lousy effect my crude behavior had on those around me. Enjoying a football game without becoming an emotional prisoner of it is a truly uplifting experience.
Of course, I could be mistaking getting on in geezerhood for an enlightening experience.

I was in a school system that changed some things around. A new high school was built and the system made the old high school into a middle school. A lot of kids was new to this building so it was a new world to most.
Anyhow, I was sitting in a class, talking to this guy sitting in front of me, who became my best friend, and he asked, "Who's your favorite football team?". I asked,"Who is yours?". "Dallas", he replied and trying to fit in, I said that they were mine too. And behold, another Cowboy fan was born. Been with them every since.
That's why they play the game

Is there another option?
This is a team who is battling several major injuries to
key players including Pro Bowl talents like Lee, Austin, Jenkins, Murray,
Carter and Ratliff. Other key starters missing include Costa, Smith, Church and
Coleman. That is 11 key players - that's half the starting lineup. Yet we still went 8-8.
