Pollack workout story retracted
From Profootballtalk.com today.....
Quote:
In response to our Wednesday night story regarding the fact that Georgia linebacker/defensive end David Pollack pissed out many scouts at the Bulldogs' Pro Day workout on Tuesday, we heard from a key league source who attended the workout.
And the league source was candid in his assessment.
"[Y]our report on Pollack is absurd. True, he didn’t do anything in terms of running forties/jumps/shuttles. The reason was that, unlike most of the other premier players, he did everything at Indy. Not only that, but his times at Indy (6.88 3-cone, 3.90 short shuttle, 37" vertical, 4.75 forty) are absolutely terrific and put him at the top of his position, whether as a 'backer or end.
[View Full Quote]"On top of that, he worked out at his workout the other day as first, a defensive lineman, then as a linebacker. Basically, he did two 15-minute position workout for the coaches. And he looked great. . . . I can assure you that there is absolutely no possible way that he’ll get out of the first round."
The source concluded by explaining that, in his view, our information from Wednesday "came from a scout who graded Pollack too low in the Fall and is now trying to justify his grade to save face."
Or it could be that some scouts are hoping that Pollack will still be around in the bottom of the first round when their teams draft.
Anyway, we've now put both sides out there and, as usual, no one will know how any team really feels about Pollack until some team writes his name on a sheet of paper and passes it to the podium.

Don't forget about the 5,000 or so threads containing all these silly "mock drafts." No offense to anyone, but one mock has Merriman going at #20 while someone else has him going at #3. In another mock draft, someone has Dan Cody going in the top 10 while another guy has him falling to the 2nd round. Just an absolute waste of time if you ask me.
Maybe someone should consider the creation of a "Darren Howard / Marco Rivera Bonus / Mock Draft / Horse Collar Tackle Super Thread!"

Bet. Probably threatened to sue.
However I wouldn't qualify him as a "league key source". Media............Flippin' paparazzi circus with pencils these guys.

I'd take him at 11 and be happy about it. I doubt he drops to 20.

I"m with you on this one. He is a true playmaker and difference maker. The funny thing is - he played in the SEC a good football conf and he put up huge numbers. He will play against some of the same linemen in the NFL. His short shuttle time is consistent with elite WR. I don't care about his forty time, his change of direction skills are uncomparable. This is why the guy is sack machine. I wonder what Freeny ran in the short shuttle?

Freeney ran the short shuttle in 4.40 seconds. However, his 40 times was at 4.45 seconds. He didn't do the 3 cone drill.
Rich........

Thanks Yakuza.
I think Pollack is just as explosive and as productive as Freeny. I'm not predicting Pollack to have a Freeny type impact, but I think he will make a strong contribution his first year. That short shuttel time of Pollack is very impressive. No wonder he gets so many sacks. The guy is expolsive. I would take him at 20 and not look back.

Me too. I think Pollack is one of those players that teams aren't really talking up, but many will try to trade up to get him if he drops below #10. In fact, I expect the Cowboys to drop down a few spots and take him.
He's the only guy in this draft who has been consistent for four years and except for the measureables could be considered a can't miss prospect.
You can't beat a guy who hustles on every play and never gives up until the play is over. I don't know why I think of Randy White when I think of Pollack, not in terms of measureables but in terms of desire. Remember, Randy White was considered small by DT standards of the day. And I believe he was a linebacker at Maryland.

Randy played LB for Dallas his first year I think before moving to DT. I could be wrong but I think that is the case.

Those times have to be from his proday cuz Freeney didn't work out at the combine.
