FA / Draft 2012 Jenkins and Dre off the board

Let's assume that Janoris and Dre will be
off the board because of their drug run-ins. Clearly
a tough decision because they are both very talented
and at a position of need. Maybe Jenkins keeping out
of trouble for a year means something to them, but
let's go forward with them off the board.

NT Paul Soliai (MIA) Rat moves to DE.
OG Nicks LG

S Abram Elam 1 year deal
CB Terrell Thomas 1 year deal or a minor 3-4 year deal with Aaron Ross

Resign Fiametta Cut T-new Let Robinson Walk or look to trade Miles or Dez during draft time and sign him. Preferably Miles, who has not earned much of his new contract. I'd take a 2nd for Miles.

Money well-spent on both sides.

Trade Back with New England and pick up a second (48).
1st #27 Peter Konz C Flexibility at C or OG, but will Start at C immed.
2nd #45 Bruce Irvin OLB (6'3 245) Great Edge Rusher and Strong enough
2nd #48 Jared Crick DE 1st round talent in 2nd bcz of injury. (Justinclone)
3rd #82 Joe Adams WR Slot Speedster with Great Return ability


You can't get everything in one go. The rest of the draft rounds I'd try to find any potential CB/SS/FS/FB and I realize that the secondary is not greatly upgraded here. Your starting CBs are most likely Jenkins and Thomas on the outside and Scandrick in the slot.

The trade is pretty much dead on. What exactly are you expecting in a trade back? 14th pick is estimated to be worth 1,100 points and 27(680) and 48(420) are worth exactly 1,100 points.

Anyway, I was all for this plan until you started messing with our WR corp. Keep them the way they are. I highly doubt Robinson is going to get pad decent $ anywhere else, hes a journeyman who happened to fit our system and QB. He'll take a small annual salary for some guaranteed cash and a permanent home. A 3rd round would be much better utilized by drafting a CB, 5 tech with some pass rushing skills, or a safety blanket to Carter at ILB.

Would anyone give up a 2 for Miles? I am thinking a late 3 or 4 would be more of what someone would be willing to give up. Thoughts anyone?

No to Aaron Ross. The Giants would be happy for us to get him as he was picked on throughout this year. Now Terrell Thomas is guy I would love to get especially if he is healthy.

3rd round wouldnt surprise me. You dont trade a good player after an injury plagued year though. Its selling that player at his lowest value. In other words, its pointless.

You are right that the trade value is dead even at 1100 points. But shouldn't New England be offering more than point-for-point value if we are doing them a favor and giving them the 14th pick? They are a team that could really do some damage with a pick in that spot. I'd expect an extra pick to sweeten the deal.

This. The team trading up normally pays a premium in trade value points.
