Default NEPD:2012 NFL Draft: Six Prospects That Fit the Patriots (Should Cowboys too?)

2012 NFL Draft: Six Prospects That Fit the Patriots
http://www.nepatriotsdraft.com/2012/...dium=tw itter

Is Fletcher Cox a good fit for the Patriots defense?

NEPD Editor: James Christensen

Sometimes the best way to get over the past is to keep your eyes squarely on the future.

The Patriots are loaded with four early 2012 NFL draft picks, so they should be able to move around and get exactly what they are looking for.

With than in mind, New England Patriots fans should check out these six prospects that are a prime fit for what the Patriots like to do on offense and defense.

George Iloka, FS, Boise State (Scouting Report) <--- this sounds interesting.

2) DB ... need to replace Jenkins

why should the same players for the Patriots be the same for the Cowboys. New England runs a 4-3 defense 80% of the time now.

Because it is New England and they are the draft shrewds of the NFL and everyone should draft like them.

An intriguing mid round prospect IMO.

right, atleast that what ESPN says.

There is a reason why their defense sucked so bad last year.
Yes they came a catch away from winning the superbowl but that was due to great drafting. They hit on Gronk and Hernadez yes, but every team has hit on mid round players. The Patriots have had busts just like every other team in the NFL.

Yeah, it is definitely a persona they have built for themselves. They have multiple picks, which means they have more wiggle room.

What the anti-Patriots-they-suck-at-everything crowd fails to acknowledge is that the Patriots have put themselves in position to have tons of draft picks, but those picks have been in large part Day-3 (rounds 4-7) draft picks.

2010: 7 Day-3 picks (4th, 5th, 6th, and four 7th rounders)

2009: 6 Day-3 picks (4th, 5th, two 6ths, and two 7ths...)

2007: 8 Day-3 picks (4th, 5th, four 6ths, and two 7ths...)

2006: 7 Day-3 picks (two 4ths, 5th, three 6ths and 7th...)

2003: 7 Day-3 picks (two 4ths, 5th, 6th and three 7ths...)

If you want to take umbrage about their approach to trading back their way into so many late round picks than so be it. But to simply say "they draft a bunch of busts like everyone else" is disingenious or flatout ignorant because their drafts are not like your typical NFL team. The Patriots drafts have been typically backend heavy for the last decade.

and we might be playing more of a 4-3 too. Plus most teams consider us playing a 4-3 now due to ware rushing most of the time.
