DC: Stanford G DeCastro Has Cowboys' Eye

It took 30 years for the Cowboys to pick an offensive lineman in the first round of the draft, breaking that streak with the selection of Tyron Smith last year. Despite having just snapped the trend, owner/GM Jerry Jones wouldn't dismiss the possibility of going for another O-lineman in Round 1 this year.
The team is secure with its tackles, announcing this week that Smith would move to the left side, swapping Doug Free to right bookend. The interior positions represent a need, however. The Cowboys' pick at No. 14 overall comes earlier than interior linemen are usually drafted, but a highly-regarded prospect like David DeCastro of Stanford could still represent a value in the top half of the first round.
"It's not up to me," DeCastro said at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. "I think I'm just a good football player, I think that's it. The value, you would have to ask the teams. I think offensive lineman is an important position. I know tackle is valued more than guard, but I think just having a good offensive line is important."

I hate to say it, but with expectations for so many about DeCastro becoming a Cowboy, I'm convinced he'll be long gone before 14.
Lately, it seems that when the Cowboys (and their fans) get so locked in on a player, he almost never gets to them.

Preach!
We need wins, and that's all we need. I don't give a damn about anyone on this roster over wins. I'd trade Ware, Lee and Dez if it meant more wins.

David DeCastro is worth the 14th pick. Nationally, the guy is getting rave reviews by the experts.
Dallas appears to be in prime position to possibly nab DeCastro.

I don't think I've ever been more nervous for a draft than this year.
I know other positions might have more immediate impact, but I absolutely can not pass on DeCastro if he's there at 14. Tyron last year and DeCastro this year and you've got two elite young lineman that can anchor this group for the next decade. He's as close to a no-miss prospect as you're going to get and this is a year where we can't miss on our first couple of draft picks.

I have to say I was against drafting a guard in the first round, but I am starting to think Decastro or Glenn would be a sound pick afterall. They both look like day one starters next season and good ones at that.

I just can't remember one where we had 3 explicit needs, and there will be guys available at all those positions in the first round.
Nor can I remember really wanting a guy as much as I do DeCastro, not because I think he's go the highest upside, which is quite good, but because we know he's going to be good. You can't say that about any of the CBs or OLBs that we might consider in the first couple of rounds.
