Default Draft Tek Mock

Draft Tek runs a program once a week and it is a great site if you have never heard of it. I like the way they classify players and they have rankings by positional need for every team. I have not been impressed with prior drafts, but this one caught my eye.

14 - Melvin Ingram - DE/OLB, South Carolina
14a - Stephon Gilmore - CB, South Carolina
14b - Luke Kuechly - ILB, Boston College

45 - Kevin Zeitler - G, Wisconsin
45a - Brandon Weeden - QB, Oklahoma State
45b - Josh Robinson - CB, Central Florida

81 - Trumaine Johnson - CB/S, Montana
81a - Brandon Weeden - QB, Oklahoma State
81b - Josh Norman - CB, Coastal Carolina

113 - Malik Jackson - DE, Tennessee
113a - Jamell Fleming - CB, Oklahoma
113b - Chase Minnifield - CB, Virginia

135 - Jamell Fleming - CB, Oklahoma
135a - Chase Minnifield - CB, Virginia
135b - Justin Bethel - CB/S, Presbyterian

152 - Markus Zucevics - OT, Iowa
152a - Devon Wylie - WR, Fresno State
152b - Marquis Maze - WR, Alabama

186 - Patrick Witt- QB, Yale
186a - Deangelo Peterson - TE, LSU
186b - Janzen Jackson - S, McNeese State

222 - Josh Chichester - TE, Louisville
222a - Chris Owusu - WR, Stanford
222b - Jerry Franklin - LB, Arkansas

I have got to say that I really like this draft. If we were to stay at 14 the only players who may be on the board that I want are Ingram and Coples.

Personally I would trade down at 14 and get an extra second rounder. With that extra pick I would try and take Bruce Irvin.

With the pick I had in the first round I would maybe try and get a guy like Kendall Reyes or Stephon Gilmore.

Other than that I like everything about this mock.

I don't disagree with any of that, if the Cowboys can't get a top prospect at 14, and they feel like they can get one of their targes 5-7 spots lower, then you have to trade down as long as you stay in the first round. It would be awesome if we got an extra second instead of a third. I'm hoping someone falls to us so the chances of that will increase.

The only guy who may fall to us that I would absolutely pick is Coples.

He is the kind of high ceiling player that could let this defense really take off. They key would be just to get his competitive juices flowing again outside of the cesspool that is the UNC football program.

Normally a guy like him goes in the top 6 so consider it a gift if he falls.
