Obviously there are several who don't see him being that helpful. He didn't seem to help his college team an extraordinary amount.
You can take a chance on a developmental player in round 2 or 3.
Round 1 is much more unpalatable.

NT Dontari Poe is 6'4 345, ran linebacker times 4.86 40 plus a 1.6 10-yard split, 44 reps on bench press.

That doesn't mean he's going to be a great help on the football field.
You're mesmerized by combine numbers.

Google Search is your friend. You should try it sometime.

Ironically a fat tub of goo is exactly what 3/4 nose tackles like Vince Wilfork are, and they take over games.
|
Poe couldn't "take over games" on the Conference USA level, much less the NFL. Comparing him to Wilfork is laughable.

No it doesn't mean he will be great, it means he has a good chance to compete at a high level.

The DeCastro suspect, the Gotta Believe Clone and Costa hater are those that degrade Poe for doing well at the NFL Combine, then are the same who hate on Brockers for tanking the Combine.

He basically had the same size and measurables as Poe. He ran a 4.85 at 6'7" 335 lbs.
Once teams went back and looked at his s football tape and people realized once you removed him from the Underwear Olympics he sucked. They'll do the same with Poe, who couldn't even get voted to first team C-USA. These people who think he's going with Top 10 picks are way too caught up in the Underwear Olympics.

He said Poe has a good motor and elite athletecism. He didn't say but it seemed he was saying it will come down to coaching and his envrionment. - this has been mentioned in here more than once.

2. Jerel Worthy, Michigan State
3. Michael Brockers, LSU
4. Dontari Poe, Memphis
5t. Kendall Reyes, Connecticut
5t. Devon Still, Penn State

Fall: Poe (1)

Based on this quote I wouldn't touch Poe in the 1st round period.
Dallas is a media circus or just circus. Now you are handing a young man a few million dollars surrounded by circus. All that adds to TROUBLE.

The Decastro jock sniffers are getting very old. While I wouldn't mind Decastro one bit, the overall sentiment that this guy can walk on water, and shoot lazers from his eyes is gettting a little over done.
He might be the best guard in this draft, but he's no Larry Allen, etc.
