Poe is an intriguing prospect. He will either be a world class steal or a big time bust. I'd be tempted if I was Jerry.
Garrett to players: Make today a great day; go about the business of winning! If you can't keep up then don't step up.

Speaking only for myself but I don't see Barron as a Polamalu. To me, Polamalu is not as good in coverage and is more dependent on scheme. He has to play in a certain scheme or he would get toasted IMO.
To me, I see Barron as much more of a Ronnie Lott type Safety IMO.

I am not even looking to 'dominate with a running game' but merely to be more diversified with how you can effectively attack an opposing defense.
To say nothing of what a player like DeCastro would bring in pass protection in addition to run blocking.
For several years, I have continued to watch this team load up on 'skill position' players and 'shiny objects' and end up being called a team 'stocked with talent' only to accomplish nothing. To win nothing.
I think that both lines - offensive and defensive - need to be addressed or all of these 'skill positions' will never reach their potential.
And when I look at both sides, offense and defense, I see that in my opinion, the offense is much closer to being a top tier group with only one or two additional pieces.
That - coupled with opinions and comments describing DeCastro as a 'sure thing' and 'the next Steve Hutchinson' I feel that he is the smarter choice.
That's my thinking.

top 5 rushing teams:
1. Denver 8-8
2. Houston 10-6
3. Carolina 6-10
4. Minnesota 3-13
5. Philly 8-8
The reason teams don't try to build a devastating run game is that it hasn't translated to wins.
top 5 passing teams include both super bowl participants, the 13 win saints and 15 win packers. the worst team was the 10 win Lions,

dallas was a middle of the road run team last year.
there is zero evidence that being a better run team ties to winning games.
the giants and pats both ran worse than us in yards and avg.

They all have potential to bust and frankly Poe isn't one on the high end, but since a few keep saying it too many just follow along and repeat it.

I don't have any comparison's to Mark Barron to Polamalu. I haven't see any comparisons to Mark Barron. All I am seeing is "multi-dimensional skill set", "position versatility", "Can play man coverage on Slot Receivers, as well as TE's". I would actually say, based off what I have heard from respected analyst. I would compare him more to Darren Woodson in type of player. But, I certainly am not an expert on comparing players.
I used Troy Polamalu because he is viewed as the best SS in football. And everything I have seen from respect draft analyst say that Mark Barron absolutely is in that class of player.

Again, while my wish is that the team drafts DeCastro, I could certainly live with drafting Mark Barron and improving what has been a disappointing safety position.
Both players fill obvious positions of need and give the team something they don't currently have.
Unfortunately, I do not see that with Brockers.
