Good.

I'd like to keep next year's picks.

There will be quality players in THIS Draft in Rounds 3 and 4.

Considering the misinformation I heard the last few days I'm still not convinced.

This is a team who is battling several major injuries to
key players including Pro Bowl talents like Lee, Austin, Jenkins, Murray,
Carter and Ratliff. Other key starters missing include Costa, Smith, Church and
Coleman. That is 11 key players - that's half the starting lineup. Yet we still went 8-8.

I don't exactly agree with this. Depending who we got with a #2, I wouldn't mind trading next year's #1. It's like getting next year's pick a year earlier. And if we were seriously looking at Fleener or Konz or Upshaw in a first round trade down, why not trade next year's #1 for one of the top #2 round picks.
But saying that, I don't know if there is a player that I would trade next year's #1 for.

were pleased last night and obviously today too

the rams contacted us and asked if had interest moving up. we know draft picks are life blood of your team. Had decided only 1 guy on board we would consider and that was claiborne. Best defensive player on the board.

We had to see if our guy was there, rams had called earlier, and if you look at the charts we have done won and lost over the years. WE visited about it, and still didnt believe he wouldnt be there, then cleveland, then jacksonville picked their guy, i picked up the phone and if 2 was sufficient and we couldnt do any more, unfortunately he wanted a little more but decided to take what was offered

i dont think it will work out for us moving back into 2nd rd, but sitting here today, we dont want to dip into the future, and dont want to give away future picks to scratch the itch, so thats why we went out and got free agents

will be very painful to sit there in 2nd rd and watch good players go off the board, but we have 6 picks and feel we can get some good players

couple of guys right now we would love to have and felt would be gone by now, but be patient and look up and see claiborne makes you feel good

i think its important to have 4 guys now, when we had alan balls and frank walker and think it hurt us, baring something good to pass up, hopefully we wil find another young cb on our roster, but if im a betting man jenkins will play for us this yr

as you know spencer had a bunch of pressures and half a step for having to go from 6 sacks to 12, but if wrs arent open its going to be hard to get the ball to them, you got to have coverage in back end, and wil make a big difference and will help our pass rush, even if we dont get a pass rusher in the draft

i think we look at wr, te and dl, we like ogletree and opened his eyes way lauren played and now getting 6.5 million a yr and kevin knows, that could be him, we have some your wrs in radaway who broke his leg and holmes

we went up and got claiborne but not limit ourselves to 2 or 3 positioins but get best player on the board, thats it

Then what would be the scenario in which they go back into the 2nd rd?

There's always more to the story.

I agree with most of that. But if the Cowboys had a first-round grade on Peter Konz, or Coby Fleener of one of the pass rushers, then trading next year's first is just like using a #1 this year.
Now after saying that, I really don't want to trade next year's #1, but I'm not against it depending on the player.
You said that you might get a good player now, but you may give up a great player later. Good point, but I could turn it around and say you could get a great player now, and you may give up a good player later. We could go 0-16 and the decision would be a disaster, but we could win the Super Bowl and we might pick at #32. It's gamble, but isn't the whole draft a gamble?
Go Cowboys!

Glad that they're coming to their senses now that the adrenaline is subsiding.

Of course, if someone who is ranked highly on our board falls to the bottom of the second, I would not be opposed to trading our third and fourth to get him.

I dont think they are interested in trading next years #1 or #2

I bet teams are asking for prime rate.

Its too bad...some quality players left. But I think after about the first 10 in the second round....I think there will be minor differences between the rest and the 3rd round. JMHO tho. Just guessing here...
