It would have to be the Jimmy/Jerry split.

We'll settle this with a good dust up.

The Jimmy/Jerry break up is the obvious.

But after that, I wish Jerry would have just made Garrett the HC in 2007. He would have brought in Capers to be the DC, and a year later, Cameron to be the OC.

I know there would have been some serious growing pains, especially during the TO meltdown, but I think we'd be much better overall at this point in time. I don't think the Roy Williams trade happens, and we don't have a collapse in culture like we did under Wade.
There's always more to the story.

Passing on UT DE Tony Brackens in the draft and dropping down in the 2nd to pick up Kavika "Fireball" Pittman

I don't believe in team motivation. I believe in getting a team prepared so it knows it will have the necessary confidence
when it steps on a field and be prepared to play a good game... Tom Landry

Well you could always go the draft route as well.

Drafting Randy Moss instead of Greg Ellis in 1998 would have given us Aikman,Irvin,Smith,Moss. If we have Moss, there is always the chance that the pass thrown to Michael that ended his career isn't thrown b/c you have Moss streaking down the sideline instead.

Or trading up 2 spots and drafting Jerry Rice. We landed Kevin Brooks who played a whole 3 seasons for us, and SF drafts the greatest WR to ever play one pick before us. Of course, if that happens, we may never draft Irvin.

Draft wise you can look at a lot of years that a player who was much better went right before or right after we picked.

In the 2000 NFL draft we took Mario Edwards in the 6th round. 19 picks later the Pats select Tom Brady. So we could have had Brady immediately fill in for Troy Aikman in 2001 and completely skip the (Quincy,Ryan Leaf, Chad Hutchinson, Clint Stoerner, Randall Cunningham, Anthony Wright, Drew Bledsoe, Vinny Testeverde era)

Had Jimmy stayed around the drafting would have been better and Moss probably would have ended up a Cowboy which would have kept Jerry from squandering two #1's on Joey Galloway 2 years later. A lot of the bad moves we saw after Jimmy left wouldn't have happened had he stayed.

1 a. Jackie Smith hadn't dropped that TD pass in the SB

1 b. Drew Pearson had broken the collar tackle against SF.

Those are plays, not non-plays.

I agree with Jimmy/Jerry. As far as the draft scenarios, hindsight is 20/20. I did want Randy Moss and hate that we let the media dictate who we drafted, but that's the only time I know of that we passed on a player we actually wanted.
