Default Whats The First Play You Remember As A Cowboys Fan

Which play either got you to start liking the Cowboys, or was the play that you remember first as a kid that sticks out in your head?

I come from two generations of Cowboys fans, my grandfather from Toronto was a huge fan because he was a high school coach and respected Tom Landry more than anything. My pops was from South Carolina and independently grew up loving the team.

So even though I didn't have a choice, there really was no choice it was Dallas all the way.

But the first play I vividly remember growing up was Aikman to Harper in 92, I was 5, had no real clue what was going on - but man my house was rockin, you'll never forget seeing a bunch of grown men growing crazy and I knew that it was something I wanted to be a part of.

So what play do you remember most coming up, or the first one you can remember that made you a Cowboys fan?

Danny White faking a punt and running for a first down. It had to be about 1977 or so because Roger Staubach was still the QB and Danny was just the punter and Backup QB. I think it was against the Giants at their place. It wasn't a called play, Danny just saw something and took off, much to the chagrin of Tom Landry. The boys ended up scoring on that drive, took the lead and won the game. I watched the Cowboys for several years before that but this is the earliest play that I specifically remember.

I recall Eddie LeBaron scrambling around and letting go a long completion...and then the star on Don Perkins' should pads boucing around as he somehow made yardage on plays.
There's no right way to do the wrong thing.

To compete for the playoffs, Dallas has to improve here: Only four sacks against Eli Manning over the past six games!

Deep to Bob Hayes vs my dad's team, the Gmen. lol
By the end of 2014 Romo will not be starting for the cowboys and the most popular phrase on the board will be..."see I knew we shouldn't have signed him to that big contract".

First memory of the Cowboys is not a play.

It's the team walking off the field after demolishing the Rams 20-0 in the NFC-CG in 1977. They were wearing their blue uni's and looked like super hero knights.

That's when I became a Cowboy fan for life.

Michael Irvin scoring a TD against the 9ers and dunking the ball over the goal post. From that point on I was all in.

The first Cowboys game I ever got to watch was the 2005 season opener at San Diego.

I know, way too late. But I didn't get TV coverage of Cowboys games when I grew up abroad.

The first play I vividly remember is when Emmitt was running for a touchdown, and he turned around and waved "goodbye" to the defense.

In Super Bowl V Chuck Howley picked off Johnny Unitas early in the game. It is the first play I remember.

Unfortunately, it was Jackie Smith in the Super Bowl.

Then nothing until the Super Bowl against the Broncos. First game I remember watching start to finish.

But Danny White's game-winning playoff TD vs. Atlanta in 1980 made me a diehard for life.
