Favre praises Romo, indicts the rest of the offense
NFL Network had some good TV the past two nights with Brett Farve and Deion Sanders sitting down for an extended interview. It was the most candid I'd ever heard Farve, and you can't help but really respect the old-school toughness and love for the game Farve has.
In it, he discussed several quarterbacks in the league, and he had this to say about Tony Romo:
"Romo is probably more like me than any of those guys," the former Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings and New York Jets quarterback told Sanders, who has been a critic of Romo. "Way too much is cast upon him -- good, bad. It's Dallas and much is expected. He's carried those guys.
"But I'm watching last year -- and I like Tony, I like the way he plays. At times he's underrated -- but I'm watching and right before the snap, he's telling guys (to get into position or that they don't know what they're doing). How in the world are you going to have a positive play when the ball is coming and you're telling a guy? And then he'll make something out of nothing. That's part of being a great quarterback is sometimes, it's not going to go."
He's right.
Every game Tony Romo has won as a Cowboy, he's had to win virtually all by himself. The defense has sucked since he took over. Virtually no running game at all, especially against quality teams. Running for is ever-lovin' life most of the time.
And it speaks volumes to the complete embarassment of a personnel department (Jerry) that has failed to bring him the necessary support on the offensive line and defense to give the guy a chance.
Last year, I can't count the number of times he had to tell Dez where to line up. And I swear he has to set the protection for the offensive line every down because the only guy with a clue was Kyle Kosier. Marty B, Roy Williams, Kevin Ogletree, marginal lineman......all clueless.
I think it's getting better with recent additions. For Tony's sake, I certainly hope so.

lol
Of course Farve would say he carried offenses, even though his choking is what forced his teams out of the postseason numerous times.

Or the other team for that matter... There goes the element of surprise on many plays...

Tony looked like he was herding cats before every play in the fourth quarter. It had to tick him off that so many guys had no idea what to do on the playcall.

Your reading comprehension isn't too great, bud.
Farve said out of all the quarterbacks he discussed, Romo was probably more like him than any other because way too much was cast upon his shoulders and he had to carry his team. Farve was comparing Romo to himself, therefore implying that Farve had to carry his team too much. Farve was a choker too, so i hope Romo is never like him. Farve single handedly blew his teams super bowl chances numerous times, like i said, with bad turnovers and poor play.
Furthermore, your statement that every game Romo has won in his career he's had to win by himself is so silly that i would be certainly given an infraction if i were to be honest about what it says about your football knowledge, so PM me for that info. Otherwise, carry on with the nonsense.

Lol, good lord,.dude. Is this moving too fast for you? Farve didn't say that at all. He said Tony's style reminded him of himself, not that he had to win games by himself with the Packers

Sounds like he's indicting coaching, too. Jerry's to blame for a lot, but not for players not knowing where to line up.
And just for the record, our defense hasn't sucked ever since Tony got here.

Jason Garrett offense rank minus Tony Sparano: 18, 14, 7, 15, 15

Comprehension can't be taught i guess. Tell us more about how Tony Romo's every win that has been recorded in his time with the Cowboys, he's won all by himself?

I'm not the biggest Favre fan but he was 100% dead on in his assessment of Tony. Tony has had weapons to work with but an average running game at best and no defense whatsoever. And as Favre said it doesn't help your cause when you break the huddle and people don't know where to line up.

This unorganized mess should be blamed on coaching. Does Romo have to line up the offense during practice? If so, this is a problem that needs to be fixed by Garrett. I don't see other teams having this problem or snapping the ball with one second left on the clock. On many plays it is mass confusion before the snap. Are Dallas players really that stupid? I am not a Garrett basher, but he is not doing Romo any favors allowing this to continue. Last season it looked like Romo was the only player that had a play book.

Oh please, we're talking about over the course of his entire career in Dallas. Tony has had some good defenses and some good running games over that time span. To say he hasn't and has always had a crappy running game and a crappy D is beyond silly.

Well he's right. Romo has carried the Cowboys for years.
