I like the Lee, Connors connection and I believe our speed at linebacker is gonna catch teams by surprise when they play us this year. If anything we got younger and faster in one off season.

You can't talk about speed at LB without mentioning Bruce Carter. Now you're putting a guy who allegedly runs below 4.5 into the defense at ILB. The one thing we have been really missing at ILB since the 2008 season is a guy who can really create havoc on the blitz from the inside. I know he didn't do it much in college but I do hope that freakish athleticism will let Bruce Carter get some sacks. I know Lee got really close a few times last year only to miss.
I don't know a lot about Dan Connor other than he was an ILB at PSU but I know he is a better athlete than a worn out Brooking and Bradie James. At his Pro Day he ran 4.67 40, 4.25 short shuttle, 6.78 3-cone drill, 35 inch vertical, 9-7 broad jump and 21 reps on the bench. Altogether that is eerily reminiscent of Sean Lee with the great agility scores. I know watching Lee scrape by blockers last year that his agility was obvious and I hope the same is true of Connor and Carter.

I still remember your mock that had him pegged to us.
"It's little bit like the description of pornography from years back. It's hard to define it. But you know what it is at the end of it. It's hard to define it. I think you know who is more physical. Often times you see that in the fourth quarter. A lot of time the team on the other side feels it. We pride ourselves on being a physical football team. It's important to us. It's an important time of the year to lay that foundation." - Coach Garrett

Too bad it will be as a Steeler. I'm still convinced he leaves for his beloved Steelers the first chance he gets. No one will convince me otherwise until he actually signs a new deal in Dallas.

I actually believe he should be given a long extension this year. The downside is all the knee injuries he has sustained but sometimes you have to take a chance and he is worth taking a chance on. If he is still playing well around 8 to 12 weeks into the season an extension would make good sense. It would have given us time to see if his durability continues or if he gets majorly nicked up again.

I'd be all-in on that if you can somehow work the contract to be reasonable for both parties for declining play due to injury. Maybe Adam can step in and comment on that.
Did you know there are only 5000 Snow Leopards in the wild now and they are confined to Central Asia? However, the effective global population (those likely to reproduce) is less than half that number.

Maybe structure the contract with a bunch of roster bonuses instead of one large SB at the signing of the contract. You could give him $4M at the time of the signing and then $3M every other year as a roster bonus. So let's make if 5 years and $32M on the extension.
