Default Is Dez our #1 Wide Receiver now?

I'm talking about from the aspect of perception maybe more than anything.

I wonder how many people expect for Miles Austin to have a bigger year than Dez Bryant.

I think Miles Austin has been quiet for some time because of last years injuries, but I think both he and Dez are going to have monster years.

That being said based on the progress from camp so far, it does seem like Dez is Romo's favorite target, and the guy who is most unstoppable. I think that will only progress in Dez's favor as the season begins.

I also wonder if Miles Austin is going to be a fantasy sleeper this year because of it.
In the final two months of 2011, Romo’s passer rating was 115.9.

When Miles has been healthy, he has been almost unstoppable due to his chemistry with Romo.

I think it all comes down to Dez's grasp of the offense (or lack thereof). He's obviously the more gifted receiver, he's just nowhere near as thorough as Miles at this point.

I think Dez has the talent to be one of the best in the game. Right now I see both Dez and Miles as guys who can fill the #1 spot. Only thing slowing things up for Dez is Dez, he need to really focus in on his job. Physical abilities are there

Nothing seems to be slowing things up for Dez so far this year. No reports in camp about him running bad routes or wrong routes, or needing to be told where to be, just the opposite actually. People are too focused on a young receivers past, especially given the fact that this kid hadn't played much professional or collegiate football.

It took Miles Austin 4 years to produce quality numbers, and that was only due to an injury to Roy Williams.

I think he has a chance to be one of the best but the outside distraction will need to come to an end. Those things can really hurt your career as they accumulate.

Dez as Irvin said needs to become dedicated to this game and things off the field can mess with that as much as anything.

Reading reports in camp of how Dez is doing is very encouraging he just needs to continue

He might be by default if Austin can't get on the field.

Not saying you're wrong, but I'll believe it when Romo isn't grabbing his jersey every other play against the Giants Week 1.

Yep. Something is merely suggested and it becomes gospel even when evidence proves otherwise.

He has to prove this season that he's better than Miles (which I think he will).

He already did last season and the year before.

Don't let R2A hear that. He'll get on both of us.

I think the story of the 2012-13 season will be how dominant Dez and Miles are.

I agree with this 100%. Dez is an absolute beast athletically. Once the mental part of the game levels out with his skills he's going to be not only the #1 WR on our team, but I think he MAY contend for the top spot in the NFL.

Fingers crossed.

The Washington Redskins.............where former Pro Bowlers go to suck.

One of the problems with the mentality of fans is that our team can't be too good even at any position. It's the defense against being a homer syndrome.

Imagine getting the two fastest people in the world to run on your 4x100 relay team. Fans would immediately come to the conclusion that one of these guys is no longer eligible for the rank of #1 or #2.

Miles Austin was a top 5 receiver in 2009, in 2010 he was on pace to maintain that, then Romo got hurt. In 2011 he was highly productive while he was healthy. Somehow now, he is no longer an elite receiver.

Dez Bryant is arguable more talented than Miles Austin, but somehow if Dez is able to put everything together that has to be at the cost of Austin's abilities.

It doesn't work like that, there are teams like St. Louis, Indianapolis, and Arizona that should have shown us that much.

DeMarco Murray was 2nd in yards per attempt last year. tied for 1st among running backs.

Felix Jones came in 21st. 18th among running backs.

Yet we were 9th in rushing yards per attempt. Why is that? Well Morris, Tanner, and especially Choice did NOT run well.

We have an opportunity to be much better this year.
