Jerry Jones says he and a noted OL expert liked what they saw in second half against Raiders



Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said he got a chance to watch the second half with an expert on offensive lines.

And that they both liked what they saw from the Cowboys in the preseason game Monday night against Oakland.

“I had a chance to sit there with John Madden and watch the offensive linemen in the second half,” Jones said. “That’s his specialty, and what I like to look at. We saw some of our guys doing some good things.”

Who?

“Parnell did good, of course. Smith is good, but he didn’t play in the second half. But Parnell did good. Leary did some good things in there. But Parnell particularly impressed me.”...

To compete for the playoffs, Dallas has to improve here: Only four sacks against Eli Manning over the past six games!

All the scrubs are doing is going out there and playing against who they were told to play against. Can't dog them for that. Just because he "liked what he saw" doesn't mean he thinks they are ready to start.

That other fellow, the John Madden guy, must be a dunce as well...

Madden was a sharp guy 20 years ago. I doubt he could see well enough to know which team was which. I hope that Jerry is right about Parnell. Maybe he can send Free packing in the future.

It's a pretty pathetic defense anyway. What is Madden going to say to him? You be polite and look for positives. To use that as some justification for the current state of the OL depth chart is a complete joke.

To be fair, Jerry just said "we saw some good things" - it doesn't necessarily mean that John specifically endorsed the OL performance, although he might have.

Kind of a weird statement in the first place, can you imaging Mara/Reese Murphy/Thomson saying: "well John Madden saw some good things from our OL... "
