If Jerry was out of the picture.
If jerry (and that's a big IF) got the idea after many years that he cannot build a football team and just became an owner who did his commercials, fed his ego, kept his celebrity status but ONLY signed the checks and let a real GM run his team, do you think this would entice more players to WANT to play for us? I mean of course we love the cowboys and realistically not everyone does, but it is safe to say this is a prestiegous franchise right? The Cowboys do have a long history of all time greats and rings and I would say it would be safe to call them the "New York Yankees of football." The team is by far worth the most and I would even argue one of the most popular nationwide (I don't have any factual evidence to back that up.) So if Jerry had a Steinbrenner epithany do you think it would bring back the glory days sooner rather then later?

It would certainly make things more favorable for some real football coaches to come here. Most players likes the way Jerry treats them. Big pay, loyalty and low expectations are a players dream.

Steinbrenner epithany???
The Yankees franchise was revived when Steinbrenner was kicked out of baseball and built up by the GM "Sticks" Michaels.
I have said similar things in the past saying how nice it would be if JJ was banned from football because of some drunken violation and the league forced him to hire a GM.
Be excellent to each other....

jerry will never sell or give up control of the cowboys
he will give the phrase "out of my cold dead hands" new meaning
jerry's priorities are EGO and money
his EGO cant take a hit because he is completely delusional about his football acumen and will always find something/someone else to blame, this is why the cowboys make "all personnel decisions as a group" so you cant blame jerry or jason or stephen "its everyone" so its no one and easy to distract
the only thing that would get jerry's attention is a huge downturn in revenue, that is not going to happen
so, all i can say is, start praying that the team can win inspite of jerry because jerry aint giving up control and meddling

Other than Chris Spielman after Barry Switzer was on the sideline at the Pro Bowl eating a hot dog, what players refuse to come to Dallas? What coaches?
I mean is this anything other than frustrated fan supposition?

Hopefully we see more Cowboys fans selling off their tickets to opposing fans like the Bears games.
I think that huge percentage of Bears fans at the game is a sign that Cowboys fans are sick of the horsecrap they are being fed year after year after year.
Just wait until the Steelers come to Cowboys Stadium. It will be like a home game for them.

since Barry was on the sideline what is the record of the team? how many playoff wins? championships?
i mean this reflects on team performance and cuts deep so this is really important

Ooh, a strawman to deflect attention away from the fact that it is just fan supposition, not based in fact.
Straw for the torches and pitchforks. Goody, goody, goody.

Any coach wanting total control will never have the chance to come here. Jerry is not going to ask him. A coach like Cowher is not going to consider Dallas and Jerry will never consider him. Wheather Jerry deserves his reputation or not is not the question. He still has that reputation. Not many coaches will put up with some of Jerry's antics. Ego plays a big part of it for Jerry and some of the coaches.

...you are correct in that all discussion on player's and coaches reaction to Jerry is pure supposition.
I think what is driving this is the fact that the Cowboys have had good coaches, good people join this organization, but we haven't had the results of other teams with good coaches and good people.
Good staff have come and gone. Good players have come and gone. We've kept draft picks. We've traded draft picks. What do the fans have left?
You and I could possibly sit down and talk about this for hours with pure speculation being the theme, but it is tempting to look at Jerry's participation and ask how the central cog in this organization affects the overall culture and operation and what can be done to generate wins and a winning philosophy.
As one poster has said, it been many years in the desert for Cowboys fans. We are thirsty and tired.

I have a couple of suggestion as to how we can get JJ to listen to the fans about gretting him away from the team and hiring a football man here..
Write a letter to Dallas Cowboys.com site
Have a Cowboys hate Jerry Jones petition.

Hos, no one can accuse you of being a fair weather fan, that's for sure! But it strikes me that at times your loyalty blinds you to some of this team's many faults.
We may still be one of the most valuable franchises, and for that reason, we still have a lot of prestige. However, I don't believe we live up to our potential in value and/or prestige, and winning would prove me correct on that (I have no doubts about this).
As things stand now, I really believe there are many coaches -- good, winning coaches -- who would politely refuse to work for Jerry. And why wouldn't they? He's an egomaniac and control freak! Jerry probably wouldn't entertain the thought of asking some of these people, because he KNOWS they would turn him down!
