Keys to winning out
If we have a bad offensive line we need to pass more, not run more. Bring the spread offense (4 or 5 receivers), we wont loose another game. This 90's style offense does not work with this team.
1) Don't wait until the clock hits 1 seconds. This is a penalty waiting to happen
2) Run the 2 minute offense. With 4 or 5 receivers someone will be open. There are always less penalties when the refs are tired.
3) I don't want to see Tony telling people what to do before the snap. Bad things usually happens
4) Don't use timing plays with Dez. They don't work. Use his strength, size.
6) Throw bombs! We don't throw deep anymore. Always have one receiver going all out. I want to see 5 bombs a game. Always throw bombs in close games. The odds are that are penalty will be called. This is what the GIANTS *always* do.
5) Don't play man to man on defense. It does not generate turnovers.
6) Don't blitz so much. It only works with bad teams.
The running game is important to run out the clock. Score first then run out the clock in the 4th quarter.

 Winning out...I needed that!
1. Brandon Magee will beat out Ernie Sims for the backup WILL/MO roster spot.
2. Ron Leary will start at right guard over Bernadeau.
3. Joseph Randle, Terrance Williams and Gavin Escobar will have more combined TD's than DeMarco Murray, Miles Austin and Jason Witten.
4. Bruce Carter makes the Pro Bowl.
5. The starting OL will be Smith-Livings-Frederick-Leary-Free

Noticed that we weren't doing this nearly as much in the last game. Might be one reason the false start penalties went away. Not really sure, but I liked the change of pace.

I tend to agree with this. Except not the 4 or 5 wides part. I think Romo excels in the hurry up offense, but if we go with 4 or 5 wides constantly the other team's pass rush WILL get there with no blitzers.

I'm all for Tony not HAVING to tell people what to do! But if they need to be told, he HAS to tell them or even worse things will happen.
4) Don't use timing plays with Dez. They don't work. Use his strength, size.
Other than slants, I tend to agree.

This sounds perfect on the surface! I love watching the team throw bombs, and wish we could do it more. The problem is Tony simply does not have time for those long routes to develop. Yes the Giants *always* do that. Eli throws bombs and his receivers miraculously make catches. When Tony throws up those kind of prayers, what happens? The defenders make the catches.
5) Don't play man to man on defense. It does not generate turnovers.
Yes, but when we play zone the opposing receivers are ALWAYS wide open! We are a sorry zone team.
6) Don't blitz so much. It only works with bad teams.
I think if Ryan could blitz his grandmother, he would. It's in his genes. That said, I'd like us to not have to blitz so much, for sure. However, until our 4 man rush gets consistent pressure, he will still be blitzing.

I like the idea of scoring first!

And finally, welcome to the zone! Hope you enjoy it here and keep posting!

A couple of more observations:
1) All great quarterbacks spread the ball. Witten should not be getting some many receptions. He athletic potential is limited compared to the other receivers.
2) Miles is our best receiver. The dude has huge potential to rack up YAC. He should get the ball more.
3) Dump the ball to the running back not Witten.
4) I want to see Beasley play, even if he is too small to play WR in the NFL.
5) People need to stop overrating Dallas players. We drafted a conerback who ran a 4.5 40 and people are expecting him to be the next Sanders, absurd!
6) We need at least 1 super fast receiver to go deep. Who is he?

1.) The O-line has to open up holes for Murray and block better for Romo, or Garrett has to do a better job of game-planning around our line.
2.) We need to be more balanced on offense, i think i've read somewhere that we've lost 12 straight when Romo throws 40+, every time we get pass happy we have games like against Chicago and Detroit. However i'm not a fan of always running on 1st down and we need to get Murray the ball in space more. If i'm Garrett i'm thinking of any and every way to get the ball in Murray's hands whether it's rushing or in the passing game.
3.) I agree on the jump ball/deep throw point, if Dez were in New York or ATL we'd be seeing him catching jump balls for TDs every week on ESPN. Play to your receivers strengths and weaknesses, Dez will never be a super precise route runner/timing guy.
4.) Our defense has to generate pressure plain and simple, if we do that, the turnovers will come and we will win more games. If we rush 3 and play zone, more like than not we will get picked apart by elite QBs. Ryan has to find a better way to get guys in position to get to the QB and make plays, hasn't happened yet.
5.) We have to stop the turnovers, we gave Seattle points and we gave chicago a bunch of points, if we do that we lose, period.
Even if we do all those things i don't see us winning out, but i definitely see us making the playoffs if we do most of those things well.

I think i heard this morning that we are 7-0 if Murray gets more than 12 carries. There you have it.
By the end of 2014 Romo will not be starting for the cowboys and the most popular phrase on the board will be..."see I knew we shouldn't have signed him to that big contract".

He tried and Murray was going to have a nice lane to the outside was all nicely blocked and Murray drops the pitch.

The thing is this is a timing route based offense so in the sixth game of the season not too mention the 5th year of the offensive system in Dallas you want to scrap it and got to an entirely different offense because of one guy?

This team should never play zone I dont understand why they did it on Monday night these are press corners and that is what they should be doing the entire game.

Instead of 'Believe' perhaps the new zone mantra could be
Even if we lose, so what - winning.
5 interceptions? 27-7? Doesn't matter, winning.
We actually win? Duh, winning.

No turnovers, no penalties, no mental mistakes
Sadly all will continue to happen, so while we could still maybe win out, it's not a walk in the park.

Good Post. I'll add a few thoughts.........
(1)I want to see more passing on first down out of the base formation. This will give us the best matchup possibilities and allow us to do something else I want to see.....(2)throw it to Murray. (3)more pass plays designed to get Tony out of the pocket. We hear almost every week how the opponent fears Romo outside the pocket, well lets give them more to fear.

The only way Dallas wins out, is if the 31 other NFL teams get suspended.

We were actually much improved in that dept against the Bears. And I agree with Jones that the OL played better than it had against both the Seahawks and Bucs.

Yeah winning out would be tough for anybody, just get me 9 or 10 wins and a playoff berth and i'll be happy. I miss playoff football.
