Doubt your a hunter, but a lot of opportunities for that too. World class whitetail hunting just south.
Pretty good dove, turkey and hog as well. Go to the coast and Rockport has great duck hunting in the fall.

That happens in Killeen and Harker heights as well i remember as a kid the grocery store i go to out certain times of the year would have a side wall cover with crickets. I thought it was cool

Actually, the average humidty in San Antonio is slightly higher than in Dallas.

Now Houston....that's a humid city.

I've heard a lot of great things about SA though. The topography is certainly better there.
But they are largest city with the fewest major sports in the whole country, I think.
No MLB, no NFL, no NHL. And really, no great college football or basketball teams either.
But that one NBA team is great though.

I hear the people are nice and the hill country is right there..so that's all good.

Also note their is tons of Military in the area you use to have 5 Air Force Bases (think they may be down to 3) Fort Sam and camp Bullis right outside SA.

There is a lot of Texas History in and around SA since Bexar county is one of the original settlement areas in Texas.

There is also a lot of great outdoor activities available nearby if you like that type of stuff.

Didn't even think about bringing up the air force bases. There are very few parts of the city that aren't going to get some airplane noise.

There are a few parts of the city that are going to get a LOT of airplane noise. KB built a development right under a flight line of San Antonio's international airport.

Every morning around 4 am the planes from Fed Ex and UPS start landing. Not nearly as bad as the take offs, but you could set your watch to the landings.

I don't hunt but i love being out in the wild hiking and stuff so that's a huge plus

There's a huge forest area behind where i live now if i where to take the job offer i would really miss those relaxing walks in that forest. Would be nice if there was something like that at least in driving distance from where i would live

There is a lot of state parks near by and the best Forest was Bastrop near Austin most of that burned down last year.

Bandera is right there it is more rocky small mountain type walks and it has horse trails has some real nice views. In fact I will be going there in November for a backpacking camp out with Scouts.

Go down to San Marcos and they have a small class 1 rapids you can train Kyak all year round or Canoes.

Enchanted Rock is an 80 miles away and you can Rock Climb and repel there and some great views.

Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge is about 2 hours away

Guadalupe State Park (never been)

Wimberly has an awesome zipline place

The amount of stuff in the area is mind boggling why we do a lot of Scout trips to that general area all the way from Houston.
