Default Holmgren out in Cleveland

No surprise here.

I think Holmgren is terrible as a personnel guy.

I'm guessing he will retire? Seems like he was about to when he took the GM job there.

Yep, once he moved up from just being a coach, his performance suffered a bunch. And just look at his Seattle drafts for some serious disappointment.

But hey, he was a real football guy....

Jerry is said to like him. Wonder if he minds punching a time clock.

Default Mike Holmgren to be replaced by Joe Banner after season

Browns' Holmgren out; sale approved

pdated Oct 16, 2012 1:41 PM ET

New Cleveland Browns owner Jimmy Haslam isn't wasting time rebuilding his moribund franchise.

Shortly after his takeover was officially approved by NFL owners on Tuesday, Haslam will remove current team president Mike Holmgren and replace him with former Eagles CEO Joe Banner.

Haslam confirmed in a Tuesday news conference that Holmgren will leave the Browns organization at the end of the season and will retire.

"We are going to bring in Joe Banner," said Haslam, adding that Holmgren and Banner would work together on the transition. "Joe will be the CEO of the team, and that will be effective on Oct. 25.

"He will be in charge of the daily operations of the organization. Football will report to Joe. We will be heavily involved."

Haslam was asked whether he tried to talk Holmgren from an ourtright retirement from the Browns' organization.

"Mike had exactly in his mind what he wants to do, what he wants to do with the rest of his life," said Haslam, who confirmed the talks to replace Holmgren had been ongoing for some time but ramped up Sunday night as the move was being finalized within the organization.

I think drafting a 28yr old soon to be 29yr old in the 1st rd, was the final nail.

Screwing up and not making the trade to get RG3 when he had all that ammo is where he really screwed up.

Seriously, all he got out of that Julio Jones trade with Atlanta was Brandon Weeden?

Hopes up as in jerry doesn't trade half the roster and the next three years first round picks to get him.

Holgrem has been a terrible GM wasting the #7 pick on Korin Robinson when everyone with a brain new he was a bust waiting to happen because of all the red flags.

Then he has been terrible at Cleveland

Now if you are talking about as a consultant to give advice to Jason great or as a Football Operations guy great but anything to do with picking players pass the guy sucked. You ***** about Jerry's picks while Holgrem has been bad or worse than Jerry
