Default DMN: Jay Ratliff has made impact since return from injury

IRVING — The impact that nose tackle Jay Ratliff makes rarely is represented accurately on paper. In the three games he has played in since recovering from a high-ankle sprain, he has accumulated 15 tackles and no sacks. But look closer. According to the stats compiled by the Cowboys’ coaches, the four-time Pro Bowler has pressured the quarterback six times.

He has also given his teammates around him a chance to make more plays.

“He defends the run and affects the quarterback,” head coach Jason Garrett said. “As much as anything else, he creates some single-blocks for the other guys because they have to give him so much attention.”
