ESPND: Jerry Jones Says He'll Aways be GM
Jerry Jones, the general manager, will never relinquish that title with the Dallas Cowboys. Much like Jerry Jones, the owner, will never sell the team.
During his twice-weekly radio show, Jones was asked whether he ever would step down as the general manager.
The answer was no way.
"We are not structured that way," Jones told KRLD-FM on Tuesday morning. "We didn't structure it that way with my ownership. There's no way that I would be involved here and not be the final decision-maker on something as important as players, and that is a key area. That's never been anybody's misunderstanding. It's been a debated thing, but it's just not going to happen."

In related news, Fidel Castro is still the dictator of Cuba until he dies.

But this can't be true. We have a committee.
We tell the team we have to move on from success" JG Oh how they have done that.
I know that when we do not have the kind of success, when we don't have expectations lived up to, the one that should get the most heat is the one that ultimately makes the decisions, period, with the Dallas Cowboys. And that's me."

It's about money. He could care less about winning.
Almost 20 years and not a sniff of a Super Bowl....huh. It's obvious what priority #1 is.....MONEY.
To all you folks that still buy hats, jersey's, tickets.....you are idiots for contributing to this mess.
Empty seats and loss of merchandise will change the structure.....pretty quick.

This is why we continually have to play catch up with the rest of the league. Honestly, Jerry is not qualified for GM. He says he won three SBs as GM...I say that the Cowboys won three SBs in SPITE of him being GM.
There is not a single other NFL team that would even consider having him as GM. That is how bad this is.

Those 3 SB's are so far back in the past that they are irrelevant for the here and now.
Inspite of him as GM? Maybe, maybe not. It was a perfect coming together of numerous things - which any team needs to win like they did. Landry had already drafted Irivn. We had the #1 pick so we got Troy. Emmitt worked out well. Many other pieces fell into place. Charles Haley seemed to put us over the hump.
No denying that Jerruh is terrible as a GM and has been for a long long time. He probably deserves some credit for those 3 SB's, at least as the "GM" he allowed the people around him to do their thing.

We're doomed....................absolutely hopeless. All I can hope for is that I outlive the man and I'm not even certain that'll happen and he's got 30 plus years on me.

That's never been anyone's misunderstanding? What? Players are important...thanks Jer.

"We've had success doing it this way and we're going to have success in the future doing it this way," Jones said. "It eliminates some very serious issues when you look around the league, as to creating an additional layer that you're continually having decisions, making changes and doing those kinds of things."
|
No, you had success with Jimmy Johnson doing it that way.

"It's real clear," Jones said. "I was asked the question, 'If you were an owner and you had a general manager, would you make a change?' Under those circumstances, I speculated that I would probably have made a change, but that's not our situation.
"To change, I'd have to change myself. People don't do that. If you've got the commitment and you have the investment, and I'm talking about in time, effort, all of those kinds of things, you change yourself. You don't change out and have someone else go in there and do it."
|
It is your situation. You're the owner and GM. You can make someone else the GM. Right. Change yourself and stop being such an egomaniacal dumb-a
