Overview: Originally recruited as a wide receiver, Webster shifted to the defensive side of the ball as a sophomore. He became one of the most decorated defensive backs in school history. A two-time first-team All-American at cornerback for the Tigers, he was also a three-time first-team All-Southeastern Conference selection and was twice named a semifinalist for the Thorpe Award, which goes to college football's top defensive back. Webster was a Proposition 48 casualty in 2000, but played in ten games the following year as a reserve receiver, catching seven passes for 74 yards while making a pair of tackles on special teams. He started five games at cornerback as a sophomore, producing 36 tackles (31 solos) with 17 pass deflections and seven interceptions in 2002. Webster earned All-American honors in 2003 as he started every game at left cornerback. He finished with 46 tackles (36 solos), 25 pass deflections and again had seven interceptions. Primed for a banner senior campaign, Webster suffered a hamstring injury in the season opener and the injury would hamper him throughout 2004. He appeared in eleven games, totaling 33 tackles (20 solos) with two interceptions and nine pass deflections. Despite his injury, the Walter Camp Foundation awarded him with second-team All-American honors. Webster closed out his Tigers career with 117 tackles (88 solos), a 5-yard sack, 5.5 stops for losses of 19 yards, a fumble recovery and three forced fumbles. He gained 181 yards on 16 interception returns and deflected 51 passes. Only Chris Williams (20, 1977-80) had more interceptions in a career at Louisiana State.

Analysis: Positives...Has an athletic build with a V-shaped torso, tight skin, muscular upper body, thick legs and long arms...Fluid and sudden open field runner with the quickness to change direction...Displays loose hips and very good range...Uses his long arms to get a good push in attempts to reroute and press receivers at the line of scrimmage...Plays mostly in man coverage, but will usually be assigned to the opponent's top receiver... Has a quick burst to close and shows excellent ball reaction, timing his leaps to get to the ball in flight (16 interceptions, 51 pass deflections...Very disruptive with his hands, keeping a tight relationship with receivers throughout their routes...Shows fluid foot movement and great hip snap gaining depth in his pass drops and is sudden driving back from the ball...Plays faster than his timed speed and is effective at tracking and adjusting to the ball in flight...Adequate tackler who is more productive when working in space... Can stay tight on the receiver in deep routes will turn plays back inside in run force...Has soft, natural hands to catch the ball outside the body's frame...His strength allows him to redirect the opponent through press coverage...Does a very good job of planting and driving back to the ball...Despite a poor backpedal, he seems to always be in position to make the play.

Negatives...While quick, he is not field fast (timed speed) and may have problems covering the faster receivers at the next level...Will bite on the opponent's double moves... Has adequate ability to read pass plays, but can be fooled by activity in the backfield and lacks the strength to come up hard to plug the rush lanes...Lacks the explosion needed to recover when beaten...Looks awkward in his backpedal and tends to come out of it too early, preferring to slide...Not comfortable working in zone coverage, but does stay in position...Does not play with aggression in run support, lacking a killer instinct, but can turn plays back inside...Not an effective wrap-up tackler, falling off a lot of his hits as he tends to lunge and grab.
