I'm fairly certain that most people understood what Jimmy was getting at, but some wanted to argue anyway.

We could say the same for Jerry. And he won a Super Bowl after Jimmy.

And you can't one second blame Marino's age one second for Jimmy's failures and then the next state that it's just hindsight. I would assume that any coach should know that there are some very big, inherent risks with an aging QB.

It was a bad decision on his part. It was a bad decision on Jerry's part, too. They both made equally bad decisions based on their ego.

A trend which continues to this day unfortunately.

Thanks for the hearty chuckle. The laugh was right on time.

I think the whole GM thing is overblown. Jerry may have been the "GM" but Jimmy was 1 step below. Jimmy called all the shots and Jerry just said ok.

Agree both made bad decisions, but I understand why Jimmy took the Miami gig at the time. Marino had a typical Marino-year in 1995. I assume he wanted to win with another team, and call it a career. Didnt work out.

Jimmy contributed to that friction. I wish he had not, but he was throwing out overtures to Jacksonville during his last season in Dallas.

You only need to look at the four drafts after Jimmy left to know who was truely in charge while he was there, but Jimmy has to get some blame for the split because his eyes were wandering.

Not the point...the point was made that he left the Cowboys for the Dolphins...which is absolutely wrong.

Truthfully, I doubt Miami got the same Jimmy Johnson that Dallas had. They wouldn't have hired that iron-fisted guy to go along with Dan Marino.

It was only an addition to said point, not an attempt to correct or contradict.

I hated Miami when he was there because you could see him killing his own team every year with the same thing that's killing us. One man's immense ego.

Jerry is selfish and his ego means more to him than this franchise winning does.

He wants all the glory or no glory at all.
