I know for me that there is plenty of evidence that we are America's Team. Nobody has a *total* games sell out streak, both home and away games, like Dallas. No team consistently draws the ratings, both locally and on nationally televised games that the Cowboys draw. Then there is the Harris Interactive Polls that poll across the nation each year that the Cowboys are the favorite team of most NFL fans.
All we ever get with these columns is anectdotal evidence which is typically biased because the author dislikes the Cowboys and the notion that they are America's Team.
We keep seeing these columns were writers are hellbent on proclaiming that Dallas is no longer America's Teams, but they always ignore these substantiated facts and act like they don't happen.
Finally somebody writes something with the facts.

Jerruh has made the Spaceship a real tourist attraction. Just rough guessing he probabaly rakes in $10 million a year on days when there are no games. Explains why he is in no hurry to negotiate naming rights.
Think about it: those that take the tour almost certainly get drinks or the like; and probably buy some Cowboys stuff in the shops. Between that and the other events held there he probably makes the payments on his loan justfromthat. Meaning all the rest of the profits from the games and the like go right into his pocket.

If reporters are writing articles about this and people are continually trying to justify how the Cowboys aren't America's Team, I think it's clear that they still are America's Team.

Every single year an article comes out about Dallas being America's Team.
Love or hate the Cowboys they are big time rating wise for the networks and always around the top in merchandise and road games no matter where they play have a large Cowboys fan base there.

lol!
The only thing I didn't like about this article, and what I miss in this day and age, is that it's on the web, instead of print. My toilet paper stock is running thin these days!

We have the most fans, the most haters, we're easily the most valuable, and we draw the highest ratings.
How is this even debatable again?

We've always been hated. We have been hated for the success of the past. Other teams fans are just jealous. They wish they could be like us. So its natural for them to be happy we have been irrelevant on the field.
Think about it. After Staubach retired Danny White took them to 3 straight NFC Championships and lost all 3. We did nothing meaningful after that untill the SB run we had with Troy at QB. After SB XXX we have been pretty irrelevant on the field. So in reality over a 30 year period we have been mediocre except for the 4 yr period we won the 3 SB's.
This team is still "Americas Team" based on what they did in the 70's. Sure we have 3 yrs with Danny being just 1 game away from the Dance. We have the 90's SB run. But, other than that the glory is all based on the past - the 70's. The 90's team revved up the "Americas Team" stuff and rejuvinated the fan base and kept it going.

My question is what's the big deal with a team having such a nickname?
Why is the Dallas's nickname that is being debated?
Are chicago still The Monsters of the Midway? they've been a joke for how long now. A.Roger owns them...
Are pittsburgh still the steel curtain? I see cotton curtain with all the injuries..
Are 49ers still bay bombers? Seems to me NFCE are the Bay Bombers and you can ask Romo and Eli about their recent visits to the bay area
Why is it Dallas's "America's Team" is being discussed and debated?
I tell you one thing...the simple fact that their fully justified and earned nickname is being debated, them being discussed and talked about and followed that heavily, and knowing the nickname was given to them by an outsider when they didn't even seek it makes them the perfect "America's Team"...

Yay. It's the yearly 'Are the Cowboys still America's Team?' question.
Yes. Because you keep asking.

The sum of Rob and Rex Ryan's boasts will never equate to Bob Ryan's in 1979:
