Default Johnny football thoughts?

I normally don't come check out this section until some time around January, but my interest in the rest of this season is waning. I'm not a big college Football guy, so I wanted to get some of your thoughts on Johnny manziel. Is he someone we can get in the late 1st or early 2nd and just Aaron Rodgers him? Is he worth a pick that early? I know we have
other needs like OL, safety, and DL, but qb trumps all of this if you're not a believer in Romo. I know we won't draft a rookie to replace him, but I think grooming one should be a priority since we're pretty much in rebuilding mode.
Thoughts???

Manziel is only a RS Freshman, he's not eligible for the draft.

Imagine what he will be like after a few years in this A&M offense. He is just scratching the surface and is a Heisman favorite.

He's not really the prototype for the NFL but the way it's going in the NFL with the spread he may end up being a good player in the pros.

He's a fun guy to watch. Amazing story if he wins the Heisman. Hope he does.

If he wants to become a top prospect by the time he's draft-eligible, he's gonna have to learn to become a pure pocket passer like RG3 did after he came back from his knee injury during his sophomore year.

He reminds me of Doug Flutie only a little bigger. I think he would have a better pro career than Flutie but he will need to cut way back on the scrambling, he is not built to take an NFL pounding.

That's the thing. He could still be growing. He is only 19 years old. He would greatly benefit from staying in school for a few more years, hit the gym and bulk up and then take the league by storm. He's about as big as Brees is. So, there is still a chance he sees success.

He's 6'1 1/2"

That is nearly a giant compared to Doug Flutie.

He is definitely taller than Flutie, but he is probably a little bit shorter than his listed height.

It will be interesting to see what happens to him next year if both of his OTs go pro in the off-season. His offensive line is one of the best in the nation with two projected first round tackles and a senior at center who has three full years of experience. Johnny might have some trouble early on if all three are replaced but I think Sherman did an excellent job of recruiting the line. Hopefully one of the tackles will stick around.

He is a small system QB ... great for the college game but not for the pros.
**** JJ 2013 Draft Board ****
1) RB ... gotta get a felix replacement
2) DB ... need to replace Jenkins
3) WR\TE ... need more offense
