Drafting injured players
Does anyone see a trend going on now? As good as Lee, Carter, and Murray are, if they never see the field, they are a bust. Matt Johnson is cut from the same mold.

I have to say that in the case of someone like D'Quan Bowers, it is something of an almost wasted pick. There are different gradients of this.

It's a tough, tough call. Because it's kinda worked, and it kinda hasn't.

Yep, but the sample size is too small yet. Let's see how it plays out. It's definitely a legitimate concern though.

We'll settle this with a good dust up.

If Bruce Carter and Sean Lee were sitting on IR right now with knee issues I would say that those were wasted picks. Chronic knees and linebackers don't mix in my opinion. However, is that the case? Time will tell I suppose. Now if next year brings another set of injuries to this dynamic duo this question needs to be asked again, but at this time I don't think that the body of work is large enough to draw any conclusions.
Murray, IIRC, was always banged up during his college years but he always played through the pain. But hey, how many 3rd round picks really pan out? Not as many as we would like is my guess. As for his current injury, I think it's more serious than they have let on and they're banking on therapy/time to cure the problem.
Craig
Chicago thought they had a QB in Rex Grossman, Carolina had faith in Jake Delhomme. What does this have to do with the Dallas Cowboys? It just might mean that Tony Romo isn't what we thought and we may have to move forward without him.

Way too early to consider any of these guys busts due to injuries. These guys have proven that they can play, they deserve the opportunity to prove that they can stay healthy. If it happens next year, or the year after that, then there's something worth talking about.

I'm afraid it's more a question of logic and probability than sample size and "let's see how it plays out" approach.

looks like not only does the Great Poobahh like drafting injured players.....he believes thats the time to extend their contracts, when he has the upper hand. Jerry has it all figured out....where would we be without him??

So you're saying those three players can't go on to have good pro careers relatively free from injury?
I'm not prepared to say that yet.

If a guy has multiple injuries in college why would one think that will change once he gets into the pros?

I'm not either, but there is a point where their production doesn't meet their talent. Most people say 3-4 years for a draft pick and that time is coming in the next year or two.

Matt Johnson was a reach the others weren't.
