What a mistake that was on Jerry's part.
We tell the team we have to move on from success" JG Oh how they have done that.
I know that when we do not have the kind of success, when we don't have expectations lived up to, the one that should get the most heat is the one that ultimately makes the decisions, period, with the Dallas Cowboys. And that's me."

It was and he even admitted to it.
IIRC Gurode was one of the last contracts that needed to be restructured to give us more cap room for the future. Gurode didn't want to take less money and the two couldn't see eye-to-eye.
I should dig up the old threads on how posters wanted Gurode gone and how over rated he was...it's like deja vu.
"It's little bit like the description of pornography from years back. It's hard to define it. But you know what it is at the end of it. It's hard to define it. I think you know who is more physical. Often times you see that in the fourth quarter. A lot of time the team on the other side feels it. We pride ourselves on being a physical football team. It's important to us. It's an important time of the year to lay that foundation." - Coach Garrett

I don't think many fans thought we would end up with every one else's cast offs. What they did this year to field an O line was criminal. I don't even want to hear the injury excuse because they weren't going to be any good any way.

This will at least give us a chance to see if he can play at all anymore.

To me the center situation was the most problematic in my eyes. Not only did they not provide competition for Costa they really didn't have any backup plan(s) if he went down. Cook was merely a plug in a leaking dam by the time preseason was over. They never put Bernadeau over there like they originally planned during training camp nor did Arkin do anything of significance to make the coaches believe he was a starter.
You know I've said it a number of times, but the center is incredibly important to the running game.
The other problem, which I can't recall anyone foreseeing, was how awful Doug Free would be going back to right tackle.

So you prefer an older scrub over a younger scrub? SMH.

Jerry paid him. More than likely a year to early. He has a habit of doing so.

I can't believe how many here don't remember how absolutely dreadful Gurode was.

Free had to be extended by the end of 2010, his rookie deal was up. The only other option was too franchise him which I don't believe we had the money to do this.

He was lazy and not prone to detail. He needs a strong coach on him 24-7 to get him to perform. Its just his nature, same with Spears. Parcells said as much.

Yeah, and yet you still complain about the line. What a surprise.

Other than the odd bad snap, he was not nearly as dreadful, even at the end, as what is being trotted out there now.
I'm not saying he could still do that this year, but he was FAR better than anyone we have had playing this year.
The fact that we used to complain about Gurode, and now we have this utter crap, speaks volumes.
