Default What is the Plan?

Sometimes I wonder if the cowboys have a plan.

When Garret was first named head coach of the cowboys, it seemed like he was working on a 3 year rebuilding plan. He cut all of the dead weight and was not in a hurry to sign over priced free agent as quick fixes. It seemed like he was going to be patient and let the opportunity dictate what he was going to do in free agency. I didn't like they fact that we would be wasting some of the older guys (Romo, Witten, Ware, Ratliff) prime years but it was a purge that had to be done to restore the culture and mentality of a winning football organization.

All in all, year one went pretty well. We started the process of getting rid of allot of the over priced players and players that did not buy into Garrets system. At the same time we were able to integrate young talent into the fold (Dez, Murray, Lee, Smith,) while developing other young players (Church, Carter, Harris). We did all of this while still being competitive.

Year 2 is where everything went downhill. It almost seems like that because of the success in year 1, we thought we were further ahead in 3 year plan and skipped year 2.

If we were still in year 2 then I don't think we would of brought in some of the free agents that we did. It almost seemed like we were looking for quick fixes to the "few areas" that we were lacking talent. If we were honest with ourselves and stuck to the 3 year plan then we would of continued to be patient in free agency and wouldn't have overpaid for the questionable talent that we acquired through free agency. It doesn't make scene to rid yourself of over priced players one year just to turn around and over pay for players the next year.

Moving up in the draft was also a bad move. We should of stuck to the original 3 year plan and looked to the draft to address the many needs that this team still had. If we stayed pat or traded down we could have acquired more young talent. We could have found players that perform as good as or better than the 2 interior linemen we signed in the off season in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. these linemen would also be part of our future core instead of quick fixes.

because of the short cut that we tried to take this past off season, it seems that we might be heading right back to year 1 again soon.

OFF-SEASON PLAN: IMPROVE TRENCHES!!!

And if we can't find players in other positions, what's with stance if a couple nameless OL fixes everything ANDaddresses the weakness the mgmt was after

It just doesn't make scene to pay for stop gap players so you can trade up in the draft during a rebuilding phase.

The plan is too wait X number of seasons for Garrett to turn into Landry pt 2.

He will turn, just like a catepiller turns into a butterfly.

As the official head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, Jason Garrett is 16-16............"Its a Process of stacking good days"

2013 Prediction: "NO PLAYOFFS"

Regardless of the end result, you should approach a problem with a plan and see it through, especially if the plan seems to be working. These guys seem to be making decisions using a weggy board or magic 8 ball.

The "plan" is for the team to hopefully do well enough to provide Jerry Jo es with just enough hope to market this mess of a team another year so saps will continue to fill his coffers to the brim.

If not he'll hire some puppet and say that hes taken a serious look at things and really holding himself accountable now hoping those same saps will buy it once more. After all its worked for 17 years running......

They are icons that rely emotions, some even convey an expression of humor. Apparently you have never heard of these.
