Over paying for other team's players is no better than overpaying your own.
Surely, if nothing else, this season has taught the importance of depth. You can't build a deep roster by throwing big money at names.

I want our O-line to get better but this isn't the way to do it IMO.

It doesn't make sense to sign probably what will be the 2nd highest paid olinemen in nfl history when you already have a LT, and it's a waste to play Tyron Smith at RT.
Hopefully Andre Smith can be had for something reasonable.

I agree with you.
Haven't we already done this too many times already because we continue to miss during the draft?
To say nothing of the fact that, last I saw yesterday, Long left the game with a triceps injury.
I don't think this team will have the cap space available to pursue them even if they wanted to.
And I don't think they do.

Jake Long has been below average.
Better than Doug Free? Yes.
But Long is no longer even a good OT.
No thanks.

Well the better than Free part is what interests me at the right price. Flozell made the switch on another team, maybe Long could play RT for us.
All depends on price of course, cause someone could overpay Long although most teams probably will do their research and this might not be a problem.

He's been an average player the past two years as injuries have caught up to him and since he made 11 million this season franchising him would cost 15M+

When I first heard he might hit FA, I was all for going after him hard. But, then I started reading about his injuries and decline in play. I don't watch Dolphins games hardly at all, but he probably is not a good candidate for us. I think Andy Levitre would be an excellent get, though.

Serious question, not a criticism, is this based on watching games or PFF?

He was great his first two years in the league, but he's been ravaged by injuries.
I actually kind of like him as a buy low possibility, it's just questionable how low it will get given that about half of the league needs a starting offensive tackle.

Despite labeling myself a "realist", no one understands my pain or appreciates my special truth. Stupid world.
