That might seem a bit high, but look at the deals Kevin Kolb and Matt Flynn got very recently, based off very little actual game tape.

I think this pick was made with the idea to trade him for more picks later, knowing they were going to be without a 1st for 2 years. Someone will overpay for Cousins, unless he looks Ryan Leaf/Heath Shuler level lost.

Thank God! Since Mark Rypien, it's been a horror show (with brief one-year respites)! My blood pressure is a lot lower with RGIII!
Actually, I hadn't thought of building him up and flipping him. That's a risk, but there's a precedent for it. It'd work out great for you guys if you're able to do it, and I can see it happening if you're lucky enough to hit on both guys.
When asked whether Jason Garrett is the right head coach for this team: "I don't think there is anyone else that could. I think he is an unbelievable coach. We've responded to him and he has made us better football players, better people. If you watch us I think we play with a certain relentless spirit." --Sean Lee

My hope is he starts this week and lights it up and we never have to see him in a Redskins uniform on the field again because he is flipped to a QB desperate team.

However having him as an insurance policy is nice. He came right in and made 4 clutch plays to tie that game up

Drafting is one area Shanahan doesn't get enough credit for, to be honest...

I think Cousins and his agent know this as well. Kirk knows this is RG3's team, and if he wants to be a starting franchise QB somewhere one day he'll need to make sure to impress in his limited appearances.
