No one is holding their breath for something like this, but there's no harm in not cutting him until the legal process plays out.

Sad sad story. Just a shame alcohol is allowed to ruin so many lives.
On a different note.
I sure hope we keep Anthony Spencer somehow. I think he is turning a corner on his career. He is playing excellent football.
I've got a prayer on my desk. It says, "Dear Lord, I pray that my place will never be with the cold, timid souls who do not compete yet criticize, for they never know or feel success or failure."

I have to agree. If you voluntarily get in a car with someone that has been drinking, you are also at fault. Both are at fault. It's just a tragedy, but no one meant for this to happen.

A breathalyzer wasn't used. He was given a blood test which is much more accurate. That being said, I do agree with giving him due process. Such a terrible story on so many different levels.

Wow, you are right, totally forgot about this. I lived in Atlanta at the time. He was in his super-duper sports car and just blazing down a residential street in Buckhead I think, when he had that accident. Never played in Atlanta again. Dan Snyder died in the accident.
However, if I recall, he was not drunk driving.

No, he was not drunk driving. However, it was worse. He was going a gazillion miles an hour thru Lenox Road. IIRC, he was going over 3 times the speed limit in a compact commercial/residential area. And he was sober. Just no reason whatsoever to go that fast in that area.

We don't need to leave the NFL to find a precedent for this sort of thing.
Dont'e Stallworth is on the Pats roster right now...

Brent is done in the NFL, unless Texas handles 2 DUIs with a death involved very leniently compared to other states. Strictly from being in prison for the years he would have an NFL career.

Brent was becoming an important player for us. His career and life are over.

Two best friends in their early 20's tearing around in Heatley's Ferrari. Heatley was sober, but reckless.
But not only did Snyder's parents forgive Heatley, they went to court to beg the judge not to sentence him to jail time and probably ruin his NHL career. Their efforts went a long, long way to saving Heatley's hockey career. Heatley and Snyder's parents remain close to this day.
After a few years in San Jose, he's now with the Minnesota Wild.
There are a few similarities with this case, but the critical difference was that Brent was drunk. That almost guarantees serious jailtime, even if Browns parents forgive him. Combine that with past DUI arrests and I don't see him playing football again.
You don't want to break laws in Texas.
