Chiefs rush for 352 yards, still lose to Colts.
The Kansas City Chiefs have not had a good season and major change figures to come almost immediately after they close out the season next Sunday.
All of that struggle doesn’t mean they can’t set a record, although the record they set in Sunday’s 20-13 loss to the Colts really just serves to underscore how wrong things have gone in K.C. this season. The Chiefs ran for 352 yards in the loss, giving them the NFL record for most rushing yards in a loss. The previous record was held by the 1944 Cleveland Rams, who ran for 320 yards in a loss to Washington.
Jamaal Charles, who is the NFL’s all-time leader in yards per carry, ran for 226 yards (NFL teams are now 29-3 when a back runs for that many yards) to continue a season that’s been remarkably productive given how little help he gets on offense from the rest of the team. Peyton Hillis added 101 yards to give the Chiefs two 100-yard rushers in the same game for the first time since Christian Okoye and Harvey Williams did it in 1991. That kind of production left one Chief trying to emphasize the positive amid all the losing.

352 yards rushing in a loss?
Frankly, that doesn't seem possible.

I couldn't believe it either... I guess that kind of underscores the importance of having at least a decent QB.

Think they had a pick 6.
Even still, that's just ridiculous.

And to think there were some in the DFW media and around here that thought Dallas should have drafted Brady Quinn and moved on from Romo back in 2007.

There was a game like that two years ago where Indy (with Manning) beat the Texans, despite Houston running all over the Colts (It was around 300 yards in that game too).
It's funny to me that fans think 300 rushing yards are defacto more beneficial than 300 passing yards.

Why is that funny to you? If I heard a team accumulated more than 300 rushing yards I would think more times than not that they won the game until I was given more information. Gaining that many yards on the ground generally indicates the offensive line controlled the line of scrimmage and the team had an advantage in time of possession. And in general, being able to rush the ball that effectively will open up the passing game. Knowing it was the Chiefs, I figured they still could not pass the ball effectively.

I don't think the fact that they lost after rushing that well is what is so surprising, it's that they had over 500 yards of offense and only managed 13 points.
