Default Cowboys take look at vet Matt Roth

IRVING, Texas – With DeMarcus Ware bothered by elbow and shoulder injuries and Victor Butler slowed by a groin injury, the Cowboys worked out veteran Matt Roth on Wednesday.

Roth, 30, had 3.5 sacks last year for Jacksonville before a concussion ended his season. He did not go to training camp with a team but had a few visits. He is not expected to sign this week but he could be brought back if the Cowboys beat Washington on Sunday to advance to the playoffs.

Ware and Butler did not practice Wednesday but Ware has said he will play Sunday vs. Washington and Butler is also expected to play.

He has 23.5 sacks in his career, which includes a stop in Cleveland where he played for defensive coordinator Rob Ryan. He had 7.5 sacks in two seasons under Ryan.

We'll settle this with a good dust up.
