Because Bill Parcells is in love with himself.

Bad move, even with an extra first next season.

Agreed badattitude. We have 3 extra picks. Two of them count, and now we don't have a running back and no first round pick.

There were a lot of teams that were sure to take Jackson and passed on him. Some teams had Jones rated higher than him. Maybe, just maybe, the Cowboys and these teams know more about Steven Jackson than you do. Crazy, I know, but it could be true.

I'm just playing devil's advocate and pretending Bill Parcells and co. have a better grasp on talent evaluation than you do.

why did the the top 3 backs all go before the 1st round ended? If these backs are so mediocre they'd srely fall to the 2nd, right?

OK....let's try this again...

We didn't get three picks...we gave up our ONE...we got their one for next year.

We got a second and a fifth.

The way I see it, if you went back and looked at draft history maybe 25% of 5th round choices make a team...of those who do, most probably are only role players or special teams players.

So, I see the trade as us picking up a second...and at best, a special teams player.

None of us can sit here and say that Buffalo will be lousy next year....NOT IN THIS NFL where teams can go from last to first in a season with relative ease...
RIP Santiago

Its fine to say wait and see about the picks but how can you turn away from the pick of the crop in the RB situation when we have absolutely no one to run the ball. Lets hope this turns out well because i am not a happy camper with the situation at all.

Parcells and JJ knew that KJ and SJ would be off the board when it came to pick #43. Right or wrong, they didn't believe that either of these guys warranted a late first-round pick when comparable backs in their eyes could be had in the second or third round.

I view this as a move towards building a solid foundation for the future of the franchise. A future which was sacrificed in the Galloway trade and put our rebuilding project two years deeper in the hole than it should have been. One of the most overlooked keys to success in life is the ability to delay gratification. Trading out of the 1st for a future 1st is a classic example.

All we can do is hope Buffalo sucks this year and that whoever we find in the draft at RB will outperform the first rounders.

I agree about Galloway...all the more reason why we should have USED the first round pick this year...game breakers are MUCH more often found in round one than the others...it's a premium pick...

If anything, I'd trade up if there was someone I wanted...

We traded up to get Emmitt, yes?

The Giants deal for Manning was seemingly crazy because they actually gave up a first rounder to essentially, move up three spots...BUT they believe Manning is a difference maker....and if he is, the trade will be a great one.

And that is what draft day is about....

I'll give you an example...

Would you trade Roy Williams for Gurode and A Bryant?

Williams is a difference maker...the other two are second round picks...

I'd have moved UP to grab one of the elite guys...this was a draft that had more "blue chippers" than we've seen in a long time...so, it's not like past years where a team would have to move up into the top few spots for a blue chipper...we could have had one for much less of an expense than in past years...AND also, because a super quality guy could be had lower in the first round, our money would be very well spent because he'd be paid for where he was drafted rather than his ability.

I am just getting the sense that Parcells and his "Just get me a bus driver" ego is now starting to be applied to the entire roster..
RIP Santiago
