I think that glover is getting the coakley treatment
per say....we are going to the 3-4 probably at least 40% or more...or it wouldnt benefit at all to do it...or to bring in spears...and I think that Ferguson is our NT in that scheme until he needs to be subbed...but Glover is not going to be playing when we do it! BP said he is a tackle and that's it! So Glover will play always on 3rd down and in the 4-3....also backing up fergy in the 3-4...that is going to piss him off trust me...maybe now he will get more sacks...but the reason I believe this is happening is because he is not that good against the run and BP doesnt want him on the field when we run the 3--4...except when he subs fergy....
this will be a tough pill to swallow for glover but as BP said it will extend his career...now another thing I am wondering...will Dat be on the field in the 3-4? we know that burnett can play inside on the 3-4....but he is only 240...so do we go with two guys who are smaller? I dont know if that will help us...I know that in the 3-4 one of the guys inside can be smaller...but IMO I dont think that BP would want him on the field either in the 3-4...he is too small and plays small on top of that...our middle was all about OLEing anyone who wanted to run through it last year...the way BP does things is he words them a special way...he is tricky like that at times...so dont be suprised to see dat on the sideline when we go to the 3-4...especially if James can turn the corner...I know he played in the 3-4 in college but BP like players who have size and more importantly play with size....shoot...eric O could play inside or outside for that matter along with Ware...then you have burnett and either Shanle or James...or even someone else...who knows...like I said I think Glover and Dat may be benched when we go to the 3-4...

Glover maybe...Dat i don't think so.... I think Dat is out there at one of the ILB spots.... he makes plays.

glover could still get 10 to 12 sacks who knows...is ferguson as good as hand
spears lks to me as a joe johnson type
and ware definite as good as howard if not better at getting to the qb...throw in ellis for the difference on any of those players and you are in business
glover got 17 sacks that year

Parcells said he wants to reduce the playing time for Glover by 15 to 20 percent in order to keep him fresher, which would make him more effective when he's on the field. Last year, Glover played 89 percent of our defensive snaps, which was the second-highest percentage in the league among all defensive tackles behind Kevin Williams' 90 percent. And Glover's 894 defensive snaps ranked fourth among all defensive tackles, behind only Williams, John Thornton and Marcus Stroud. Considering that Glover weighs only 282 pounds, compared to 297-312 for the other guys, it's easy to see why he should be given more rest.

Parcells is no dummy. Glover will be around, and he will still be used. We now have the ability to have a deep ROTATION of players on defense. Fresh players is always good, especially if they are all good

Glover and Ellis have to realize what it will do for them if we can establish someone on the opposite edge to command consistent double teams......
Last couple years Ellis has started out strong, but then teams chip him etc and 2nd half of season is so so sack stat wise........he should be able to bring the load all year with the OL stretched between ends.......heck, even the NT that needs a double to move him out of the hole.......recollect 2 yrs ago when the young kids at nt were performing ..........really toughened up our entire D

All you say is pure conjecture... BUT I do agree that if we go to a 3-4 one of our best players either Glover or Ellis will be sitting on the bench and I've got a real problem with that.

You make good points STS...
Glover would be VERY effective on nickle/dime pkgs and spelling Fergy in passing situations...
Ellis is a starter in the 3-4 anyway, he is strong and can easily put on 10 lbs to play full time...
Good point about dat too, he NEVER makes big plays...
I suspect Parcells to look for other bigger, better tougher players to replace him...
Dat also could excell in nickle/dime pkgs, where he could use his insticnts to sniff out plays and not be worn down so much from larger better players...

I agree, the guys on the field who are taking snaps away from Ellis or Glover have to produce. And while some are squeezing their hands wondering who's going to start. To me, this is a great problem for the coaches to have. It doesn't matter who's going to start, it only matters as to who's going to handle their business when it's their time to shine.

PArcell is a 3-4 guy. This is the scheme that he knows. So this is also the type of defensive personnel that he knows.
Unfortunately, neither Coakly nor Glover fit his scheme. And we are building a defense around this scheme.

I was thinking about this last night.
I think when the team goes 4-3, we see a lot of Ellis and Glover.
When they go 3-4, that is when they get the breaks and we see guys like Spears, Fergi and Coleman up front. Use the 3-4 as the change of pace and rotation system.
The thing that bothers me is that Fergi is on the field all the time. He is gonna earn that signing bonus!

After yesterday draft and no Howard no trade as highly called by many here....
It amazes me all that doubt we are moving to a 3-4. Go replay Parcells PC. Its a given we play a lot of 3-4.
Ellis could be traded and Glover will get his snaps. Its more rotation up front again.
Why are we catering a bad defense around Ellis?
Change is happening, make him earn Playing time.
I'll laugh my *** of if we draft Chris Canty today!
