Default Evaluating Jones

Jerry Jones is an interesting study.

We have all seen the qualities that have made him a very wealthy man. He has the foresight and vision that has been evidenced by his original purchase of the Cowboys, his decisive hiring of Jimmy Johnson, the construction of his new stadium and a host other other decisions through the years.

But Jerry also has some qualities that have made for a miserable 16 years. He is a narcissist. He is stubborn to a fault. Amazingly, while he has long term vision casting ability as a business man, he has very short term vision as a "football man".

I watched him post game last night. He was clearly angry. Unbelievably, however, he never gets sufficiently angry at himself. The ONE guy that NEEDS to be fired, is him. We all know, however, that he won't do that.

So what is next? This is where Jones gets interesting. I know I'm probably in the minority, but my view is that we are actually on the right track. Really do.

But I wonder if Jones might just pull the trigger on yet another change? And if he does, what direction might he go?

I don't think Mike Holmgren would be the guy. I think he is more of a counselor to Jerry than a guy who would work for him.

I don't think Gruden deserves the job. His best work has been when he followed guys who were almost there, and then when it was HIS work, it degenerated.

My gut feel, for some reason, is that Andy Reid could be on his radar.

I'm not sure that Jerry knows what he wants to do at this very moment. In my mind's eye, I think Stephen is trying to talk his father off a ledge.

Next few days will be interesting.

Jerry knows how to make money.

End of the list of his virtues.

F is too high of a grade. I would give him a Z-.

It's funny watching Jones visably upset. Funny ... this is his mess. He built this team of losers. He neglected vital parts of the team. He threw away premium draft picks.

"Best owner in sports."

The best owner in sports would've long ago removed the one man who kept him from winning.

Even Danny Snyder decided to get out of the way, and he just scraped Mr Jones off of his feet to get to the playoffs.

The only thing this team needs is a real strong draft and free agency. Romo needs a stud center and a guard. The defense needs a stud NT and a safety that can tackle and make plays. Added depth at WR and DE would help. As much as we blame Romo and JG, in the end I believe because this team is so limited in what it can do well, that stopped JG from really running his offense. We shall see what the next few months bring, but we need to draft Romo's replacement as I don't think he can take too many more beatings like he took this season.

I would like to think being in the booth the past few years has helped sharpen Gruden's football mind & he has learned many more things studying every team in the NFL weekly.. I would much rather go this route if there was a change

Default There is a...

...process for what ails Jerry and this team.

It's as plain as the nose on his face.

1. Keep Garrett.

2. Discuss with your HC on adding more staff to help manage the behemoth that is an NFL team. Notably an OC. Not a figurehead, but an actual OC who gets to call the plays and manage the OC side of things like play combinations based on personnel. It's a big job and everyone needs to acknowledge it and put in a corrective action to the results that have been showing on the field.

3. Take himself out of the equation while others get their chance to place their imprint on what the Cowboys on the field will look like. He may take others opinions before adding in his own, but I want to see a culture where the boss just sits in his front office/box and only calls once or twice a week. Let's just give it a shot. Jerry and the fans have nothing to lose. Actually Jerry's ego may take a bit of bruising, but there is a greater cause here - another paradigm for this football team, hopefully a winning one.

We are not that far away and it has actually been incredible how well the team has performed with this incredibly unusual situation with the injuries. It is what it is, but it doesn't mean this team can't pursue some form of continuous improvement that is focused on the culture, the management structure and the job descriptions.

Lord knows the team has put in more than its fair share of improvement in the addition and subtraction of players. Let's try something different altogether.

Default It's A Wonderful Life...

What was the Dallas Cowboys is now Jerry's World...

Aghh.. Jerry is mad... Boo-hoo...

Bling stadiums, pole dancers, Victoria Secret's legitimized porn, bling players traded for draft choices - players that could have been or could have provided solid depth that we will never know about, priorities other than football that distract, total nacrissism, total power, total greed, dismissing great coaches, deciding whether HC's need OC's or DC's, socks, jocks...

Bedford Falls becomes Potterville...

Fortunately, George had Clarence and gave him a second chance...

We just have to live the nightmare...

...benchmarked.

Jerry wants to do it for Garrett, but mgmt tools are useless unless you are prepared to support them by using them on yourself.

Benchmark yourself Jerry.

Your post lost any credibility with that utterly ridiculous statement.
