Past employment with the Cowboys counts with competitive loyalist Jerry Jones, and the overlord of the Dallas franchise took notice when two of his former offensive coaches, Norv Turner and Chan Gailey, became available on Monday.
Head coach Jason Garrett, who played for Turner as a member of the Cowboys, might not get a deciding vote when it comes time for Jones to make the changes he promises are coming, which could include pulling Garrett's play-calling responsibilities. Turner and Gailey are both considered strong play-callers and Turner in particular is praised for his tutoring of quarterbacks.
Jones that told his team to enter the 2012 season with a sense of urgency to make the playoffs and make a run to the Super Bowl for the first time since 1995.
Jones understands the Cowboys had lots of injuries and had to endure the tragic death of linebacker Jerry Brown. But the bottom line is the bottom line and the Cowboys didn't get it done and now Jones is focused on changing the culture at the team's Valley Ranch headquarters to get the desired results he is looking for.
"I can tell you change is necessary at 8-8," Jones said. "We're going to have changes."
Jones is not firing the general manager, as he and the owner are one and the same.

What's so wrong with Turner? He may not be a great head coach, but he's a damn good offensive coordinator. People point out because Rivers has played so bad the last two seasons that means Turner sucks and that's just not true. That offense lost a lot talent over the years with LT leaving and having no consistent run game and then Jackson leaving, once more opening up another hole as they had no number one receiver. Here's Rivers numbers in 2008, 2009 and 2010:

2008: 4,009 yards, 34 TD's 11 INT's -- 105.5 QB Rating

2009: 4,254 yards, 28 TD"s 9 INT's -- 104.4 QB Rating

2010: 4,710 yards, 30 TD's 13 INT's -- 101.8 QB Rating

Not that bad in my opinion. Turner knows how to run a offense with talent around him and if we can add some talent to that offense line, I'd say a offense with Romo, Murray, Bryant and Witten (assuming Austin gets released) along with Turner as a OC ... it could be dangerous.

Here is a name-Doug Nussmeier. OC for Alabama. Similar background to Jason, similar system to Jason (both with roots in the timing based system) , both worked for Saban. Very committed to running game. Would not be threatening to Jason's status and knows the college talent. Good guy with solid background. Jason's pro experience would help Nussmeier and Nussmeier's physical approach would help Cowboys.

I'd puke if Chan Gailey became the HC. He was a terrible playcaller in Buffalo and got ripped on for it all the time.

Anybody who has CJ Spiller in their backfield averaging like 6 yards a carry and only giving him the ball 12 times a game does not deserve to be coaching at the NFL level.
