Yes, I am back (and for a reason) to call out 3 who bailed on us!
From the 50,000-watt cauldron of simmering analysis, spicy additives and wise adjetives and stuff, Cowboys Air America, from Farmers Branch, where book learning is OK as long as it don't interfere with vocational skills!
Next, Bob's Manly Sewing Circle, followed by Minnie's Kibittzy Koffee Klatch.
Forecast: Cold today, cold tomorrow, cold for the rest of the offseason, thanks to Tony Romo.
Yes, thank you, good to be back to tend to my flock.
I half stayed away to allow others to vent and voice and vacillate.
Halfing heard no good analysis for a while, I decided to give you mens a dose of clear thinking and invective.
Three who bailed out on us:
1. Josh Brent. He had a prior. He chose to drive while unpaired and kilt a fellow athlete and friend. Garrett and Jones and teammates chose the love route. Love thy stupid driver. Yeah, that's the message to sent to our youths.
2. Ratliff. He was hurt. Then a stupid remark by the owner (Jerra Jones) sent him into hysterics. Then, to underscore his pain, he decided (with doctors acquiescenes and stuff) to undergo surgery. Suddenly, Jerra's "We need you" turnt into a "We need you next year," eh? No, Ratliff will land somewhere in Canada where they know how to appreciate injured journeymen has-beens. Bye, Ratliff, you were no good to us this year and enjoy your next team where the owner and coaches will not treat you with kids gloves!
3. Jenkins. He pouted all year, was injured and then, when he played, forgot the basics of coverage and tackling. If he is around next year, then Rob Roy Ryan is stupider than he look.
Honorary mention:
The secondary and defensive linemens who continue to arm tackle. It is enough to make me sick! NEVER tackle an NFL runner at the arms, head, torso. Go for the legs. Go for the legs. Go for the legs.
OK, for those of you mens who thinks this is a negative post, well, you are rong.
I half great expectorations for the Cowboys next year.
Despite the victrola directed at Rob Ryan and his defensive team of incompetents, we all know that injuries, inJuries with a capital J, had something to do with their ineptness. That is not news. That is fact.
So consider this: We played a lot of hombres off the street, off the waiver wire. Off the pile of humanity that no one wanted.
Most played with enthusiasm if not talent.
Yet there arose from this pile of recycled detritus of humanity some tough hombres who did not embarrass themselves.
And we played a lot of 2nd and 3rd-stringers.
Next year, at least, our defense will have a lot of experienced players and depth.
When we get back Lee, Ware, Carter and the rest of the rehab mens and Dez no longer hat-slaps women, we will half a GREAT TEAM.
Yes, I said GREAT.
Romo, our Danny White (but without the personality) will play good enough to set records and get us into the playoffs. Why? Well, he will half Dez, Witten and a very healthy Murray who will be taught to hang on to the ball.
But, alas, Romo is a very skilled player but a choker. That is a fact.
He will not get to the Super Bowl but we will return to respectability.
So I say unto Jerra, my former man crush of an owner:
Draft a QB with No. 18 or whatever pick we half. It will take 2 years minimum to groom him. Groom him to take over the rains from a 35-year-old Oh No Romo.
Yes, some of you will say, "But Gimme, analyst superb and handsome mans, do we not need O-line hep?"
Yes, we do need O-line hep.
I say we work FA feverishly for this. And use our No. 2 pick on an O lineman.
So, on my 10,000 post, I give you this plan, the route back to respectability.
Yes, I give and give and give. And today I give some more to you, the great unwashed who so deserve some leadership here.
Signed,
a TRUE Cowboy fan who saw "No, Danny, No Danny No" Danny White play and now is seeing him agin in the form of Oh No Romo.

A little off topic and probably over discussed previously; however, I have a question about the Josh Brent situation:
If another person has previously driven an automobile while at a similar level of intoxication, is that person a better human than Josh Brent because they didn't happen to crash their auto and kill their passenger?

while I agree with you about Brent, Ratliff, and Jenkins, there is no way in hell we should draft a qb with our 1Rd pick. There isn't a qb worthy of a first round pick tbh. we can find same value in later rounds. Our defensive line and interior offensive line are the biggest needs in the draft, point blank.

This year's QB crop sucks in the draft.

How many hundreds (thousands?) at that game thrilled to the moves of the Miller Lite Dancers, booed Brent's image on the big screen, then drove home intoxicated?

No, don't draft a QB with our first pick. We need linemen! If Romo didn't have great escapability, this team would have been 5 and 11. Both our lines need to be the focus of the offseason. Maybe we draft a QB in the late rounds in case we can get a Tom Brady type. But build the line and see what Romo can do next year. If he doesn't prove to be the guy, then maybe draft a QB in the first round, depending on who's available.
I've got to disagree with you about Jenkins. That whole story about his being disgruntled was all journalistic hype. He remained a professional and assumed his new role. In fact, I'd like to see him back, though I'd doubt that will happen.
This team did play scrappy and they did make a lot out of a little. We were gutted by injuries on defense. We were way more than just banged up, but Ryan found a way to keep most games competitive.
In the offseason we need to build the lines, as I've said. We should also at least evaluate our conditioning in case there's anything we should be doing better to prevent injuries. Garrett should work on his clock management. I actually think he improved over last season, but there were games that he screwed up. The Ravens game comes to mind.

I agree, that line needs to be fixed, and I would say especially if the Boys want to continue running the type of plays that they do; time in the pocket is key in Garrett's scheme. What's funny is that this is old news. The line I have in my sig has been there since Julius Jones and MB3 were on the team together.
If you build it, he will run...

How ironic, a poster that bailed on the Zone coming back to post about players he says bailed on the Cowboys.
Jerry Jones....Selling mediocrity and excuses to the fans since 1997.

The big problem with drafting a QB is that Jerry will be the one picking him. So more than likely that means a return to the Quincy Carters, Chad Hutchinsons and Drew Hensons of the QB world. Or maybe we sign the modern version Old Vinny Terstaverde or old Drew Bledsoe after another team gives up on them.
The fact is that even though Romo is not an Elite QB the Cowboys got lucky finding him. He is still a serviceable QB. We just need to make sure the team overall is good enough that he doesn't have to win it on his own.
As they say, the battle is won in the trenches and that is exactly where we need start to fix things (on both sides of the ball).

I was done with Jenkins after the 2010 season and saw nothing in 2011 and 2012 to make me change my mind, however he wasn't that bad this year.

You FAILED miserably in this part of your post
The Washington Redskins game at the end of 1983 DID NOT DETERMINE IF DALLAS MADE THE PLAYOFFS OR NOT. The play you bring up DID NOT DECIDE THAT GAME.
Romo HAS ONE PLAYOFF WIN to his credit (Not all his fault). Not even close to what White accomplished.
Now, if you want to compare Romo to Hogeboom, that would be a valid comparison. The 3rd INT Romo threw Sunday night was vintage Hogeboom but, you were probably with the crowd yelling for Gary back then. How did 1984 work out for you?

We tend to punish results, rather than intent/negligence in this society. Its otherwise known as luck.
