Overrated tends to be ones personal view. You say Gruden is overrated? Whose rating are you going by?

Well, technically, yeah. But you can always try to buy it back.

Warm up that fiddle, Jer.

If you actually spend the 10-15 minutes it requires to study Grudens accomplishments, you will quickly find out that he was far more successful than he's given credit for.

Dude gets a bad rap. When in reality he has some pretty darn good skins on the wall

People who put him on the same level as Cower or other top coaches. It's indeed my personal opinion, but I think he is horrible with personnel, can't develop young players, and I flat-out don't like his persona.

Gruden's offense fits the talent, the asset " Tony Romo". This is what JJ is looking at. An offense that plays to Tony's strengths and limits turnovers.

Gruden would be a major upgrade. His version of the "Walsh" West Coast would benefit Tony Romo and our O-line immediately. The Garrett version of Air Coryell abandons the run game, runs deep routes and we can't sustain the blocks. We have been eliminated in every major elimination game and playoff game with a heavy dose of the blitz. J Garrett's version of Coryell has NO ANSWERS! He has had six years to adjust and he refuses to do so. He could have adopted a more run heavy Norv style of the offense to fit the goods; instead he chose to run it Martz Style with a Gunslinger QB and a O-line built through FA. LOL what a stubborn ***.

Give us the WCO that Gruden ran with Gannon, Callahan has worked for Gruden before and we could see immediate benefits. The ones who say Gruden won with Dungy's team...might also say the Callahan coached Raiders made it to the SB with Gruden's team and Grudens playbook .

Bring in John Gruden...Say hello to the NFC Championship game next year.

I agree with the gist here. I find it strange that both Gruden and Holmgren haven't been mentioned more. I know they have limitations...getting one out of booth and age for other but you mean to tell me more teams would rather try and find a hot coordinator that has no experience vs one of these two? Strange is all I'm saying.

Garrett not going anywhere. Nothing to see here.

Completely agree. Gruden will just make us more of a circus than we already are.

I wanted Chucky when we got Garrett as HC instead, so I'd be thrilled with Gruden.

Yet, I'd also be okay giving Red another chance as long as we can get a competent OC in here and worked on the OL in the offseason. Wouldn't be nearly as optimistic as if we were getting Gruden, but I would hold on to some hope at least.

I agree that there may be something to this rumor. King mentioned Gruden to the Cowboys. Patrick mentioned a few weeks back that Jerry was quietly searching for a head coach. Gruden's known to be interested in returning to coach, but has not been mentioned with ANY of the current openings. Jerry has not come out and endorsed Garrett, but rather, criticized the teams record, coaching, and basics. And promised to make drastic change in order to get the best out of Romo. Certainly seems interesting to me. And if you connect these dots, you have to admit there's some logic to the rumor.

As for Gruden himself, I'm not much of a fan but you can't really argue he's a better head coach then Garrett. Like him or hate him. He's definitely proven.

Wasn't it Gruden coaching the Raiders when he was screwed over by the "tuck rule"..?
Never argue with an idiot, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Yeah. The idea isn't that Gruden beings any of the garbage QBs he worked with in Tampa. It's that he'd be working with Romo.

And the whole Dungy team thing cracks me up.

1. He did what Dungy couldn't which is why he got the job.

2. What else has Dungy done? 1 SB with one of the greatest QBs ever? In 7 years? John Fox might get that this year. And we credit Dungy for building the Bucs but don't acknowledge the Colts were basically the worst team in the NFL without Manning? If Dungy didn't have Peyton, how does he do?

Looking at two different situations and trying to compare potential outcomes when the rosters are worlds apart is wasted effort. What can a coach do with what you have now is the better question.
