I think the Lovie move makes less sense than others here seem to. He's a one and done guy. Now, you can argue Rob was too, but when we hired Rob I think it was done under the impression that we were a legitimate contender so it was kind of like, "oh well, we just need to get one ring out of him".
It's clear that's not the case now. So I don't necessarily see how a guy who if he's successful here will undoubtedly be gone is really beneficial to our rebuilding..."process".

as soon as the season was over JJ and JG both said that they havent discussed the personal yet, that meeting would be in a week .......this is a week later, I knew they were meeting this week.....RR should have known as well.....why leave town ?...why not wait a week?.....
or maybe they werent sure they could get his replacement a week ago....they are running a franchise, he is sitting on a beach...they werent gonna shut everything down and fly to the Bahamas....they probably called him in , he pressed for a reason, and they ended up telling him over the phone.....
Rob wont be the only coach that has yet to be fired around the league...staffs are gonna be getting shuffled for the next couple of months...

The rueing going on in this thread is great stuff.

This. This big time.
For those pissed off at Ryan's departure, what games were you watching?? Obviously not the Dallas Cowboys. Or any good defensive team.
Look at Seattle - SF - Washington - Baltimore. All aggressive defenses. Name one freaking play that Dallas showed any of their aggressiveness this year - just one.
One indictment of the 2012 defense: no matter how well they played, if the offense scored, and Dallas needed a stop IT DID NOT HAPPEN. The D played to limit the damage. It did not play to hurt the other team. Dallas played the corners back, trying not to give up a big play rather than the pressure Ryan promised. Instead of exotic blitzes to confuse the O, Dallas rushed three men more times than the rest of the league combined. Hell, when facing rookie QBs, Ryan employed a max zone.
I cannot believe the strum and drama here for the architect of a defense near the bottom of almost every defensive stat in existence.
18th in yards.
19th in passing yards.
22nd in rushing yards.
24th in points.
29th in generating turnovers.
Dead last in interceptions.
And yet, you're shedding tears and renting hair for this.
Y'all need an off season more than Dallas does.

People were sure we'd lose Rob Ryan to a HC position after his first year. Two years later, we fire him early. You never know what's going to happen.
A very good DC can make a huge impact on a team in short order. And we're not short on defensive talent. I'd happily take Lovie and some more turnovers from our secondary even if just for a year. Though I think there's a better than good chance we'd get at least two out of him, and maybe more.
When asked whether Jason Garrett is the right head coach for this team: "I don't think there is anyone else that could. I think he is an unbelievable coach. We've responded to him and he has made us better football players, better people. If you watch us I think we play with a certain relentless spirit." --Sean Lee

As the official head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, Jason Garrett is 16-16............"Its a Process of stacking good days"
2013 Prediction: "NO PLAYOFFS"

Absolutely flabbergasted at this. Totally unexpected. But with Jerra, I suppose the utterly asinine should come as no surprise. I wasn't a big Ryan fan, but his D did very well considering all their injuries. Garrett has been a failure since 2007. I wonder which one of Jerra's "outside consultants" told him to do this?

And people who insult his name are not agenda driven.

That's not hypocrisy by any stretch of the word. That's simply using your best judgement to do your job to the best of your ability. Coordinators aren't given time to implement their programs. They work for the head coach, and they need to keep him happy, or they get fired.

Surprising news for sure.
I see no way that Lovie becomes the DC...perhaps the HC. But as the DC he would get paid more than Garrett...haha.
He is going to take one of the HC spots available, unless Garrett is getting canned too.
