Strengths: Can change direction without losing much speed in transition, is smooth and has the potential to develop into an excellent short-to-intermediate route runner. Shows outstanding focus while the ball is in the air, catches the ball away from frame and rarely drops any balls thrown in area. Catches the ball in-stride, has the elusiveness to make multiple defenders miss and is a threat to turn the short gain into the big play. Has experience returning kickoffs as well as punts, is always a threat to make something happen and should develop into a quality special teams' contributor.

Weaknesses: Is vastly undersized, has problems beating press coverage and won't break many tackles. Bigger corners will have some success muscling him out of routes, lacks the height to compete for jump balls and will never be a great red zone target. Doesn't have great top-end speed, doesn't a second gear when gets a seam and isn't much of a threat in the vertical passing game. While dominated the competition, played at a small school and there is some concern about ability to adjust to the speed of the game at the next level. Mental capacity a concern; scored a 13 on Wonderlic Test.

Overall: Rector started nine games during his true freshman season in 2001 and has been a fulltime starter since. He has been a terrifically productive receiver and return specialist throughout his career at the D-II level and he had his most productive season as a senior in 2004, finishing with 87 receptions for 1,207 yards with 15 TD's, while also averaging 16.6 yards on 29 PR's and 24 yards on 15 KOR's. Rector is a shifty athlete with very good speed and explosiveness with the ball in his hands. He has improved tremendously in terms of his consistency as a receiver and he also has a lot of upside as a return specialist primarily PR's in the NFL. However, there do have to be some concerns about Rector making the transition from the DII college level to the NFL. He also lacks the size to be anything more than a No. 3 slot receiver and likely will level off as a No. 4 receiver even if he reaches his peak. In our opinion, Rector doesn't have enough upside to spend a pick on in the first four rounds but he certainly is versatile and explosive enough to draft in the final three rounds as a developmental project.
