Default George: Cowboys' five priorities as they scout Senior Bowl practices

List will be extensive as they examine seniors who could meet their needs

As the Cowboys continue to rework their coaching staff, they’ll have to divide their focus starting Monday when the team’s coaches, scouts and front office staff travel to Mobile, Ala., to watch Senior Bowl practices.

The Cowboys’ brass will be busy trying to identify players who fill their needs, including those who fit into their new 4-3 base defense.

But the Cowboys’ top off-season priority has to be upgrading the offensive line, which struggled throughout 2012. The Cowboys have the 18th overall pick and could be in the market for a guard or center.

The Cowboys lacked depth at wide receiver last season and aren’t likely to re-sign backup running back Felix Jones, also putting them in the market for another running back behind starter DeMarco Murray.

I watched a lot of the game.....and I know the defenses are very vanilla, but that said, Terron Armstead played a nice game and often completely overpowered his one on one opponent.....Also, he was very good at switching of on his assignments from the 1st rusher to the 2nd rusher.

He seemed to have a nice understanding of how to block. He seemed to know when to stonewall his guy and also when to ride his guy past the QB, allowing the QB to step up in the pocket and find a receiver.

I think he would make a very good 5th or 6th round selection.....as he can play both OT positions.....

I look forward to the day when the secondary isn't listed on the Cowboys' short list of needs.

You may say I'm a dreamer....

We'll settle this with a good dust up.

Yes, Terron Armstead looked very solid in the East-West Shrine game. His only negative is that he checked in with a 33.5" arm length.

I'm in agreement with you there, we need to get better up front. We need to add a three-technique pass rusher for starters. The only position in the secondary I believe we need to improve at is the safety position. Unless of course Matt Johnson is someone who can step up.

Not sure how Church will recover but I see him as a solid backup for us. We need more speed. A ballhawk who can also play the line of scrimage and be a run stopper.

Sensabaugh has obviously lost a step and needs to be replaced. At least one safety has to be drafted. If we improve the DL with better players that can create a good pass rush, the secondary will play better. I just think we need better safeties. We don't need to draft any corners this year, you're right.

Our needs coming into this draft should be like this: OL, DL, S, most importantly.
