Dome teams
Is Indianapolis the only Dome team that has beaten a non dome team in the SB?
Just thinking about that and the fact that we are a dome team. Maybe the edge we get in the season supposedly from having a dome hurts you in the playoffs.
Just wondering

It seems like our team plays better outside though...

Saints beat the Colts. Rams beat the Titans.
I don't think the building has anything to do with winning though. Especially since most Super Bowls are now indoor venues. You better learn how to win inside.

If the SB is played in a dome then this should end this debate.
So go to the Super Bowl when it's played in a dome...this year would have been perfect

off the top of my head, you r probably right, but I always thought this was an over rated aspect. If the 49ers played in a dome in the 80s, they still would've won the 5 super bowls from 81-94. It's hard to quantify the value of this without a direct comparison, ie one team getting over the hump after going from a dome to grass.

I think you're right.
I hate that we're a dome team now.

Rams vs Titans. OK missed that one. But still it makes you wonder THIS:
Are maybe outdoor teams made tougher by playing outdoors and that gives them the edge?

Perhaps the more storied franchises played before domes, were formed before domes, and we haven't had nearly as many team-years in domes? And alot of expansion teams seemed to go dome... newer teams with fewer years and many of them formative...

Tougher?
No.
I think they are more apt to have good running games.
I think what gets overlooked in football is the wind. It gets windy and it becomes difficult to pass the ball. The Pats had that problem agians the Ravens and couldn't run the ball. The Ravens could run the ball, it opened some things up down the seams and they could then throw it there because those passes won't be quite as affected by the wind (lower trajectory, more velocity).
The Falcons lost in part because they couldn't stop the pass and couldn't run the ball to close out the game.
I don't see it as a real issue in Dallas. We are no more of a dome team than we were in Texas Stadium. Except if it's really cold or raining, which it was never a lot of in Texas Stadium, we are pretty much playing in the same type of conditions.

most of the teams in domes are older teams. Which expansion teams over the last 20 years are in domes?
RAMS
COLTS
COWBOYS
FALCONS
SAINTS
SEAHAWKS
all teams that have been around for at least 30 years

It seems to make sense that in Decemeber and January when things get really nasty outside, dome teams face more of a contrast if they have to play outside. And that can't really help.

So do I. Football is meant to be played outdoors.
