MOBILE, Ala. — Cowboys defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin wasn’t ready to talk about his new gig Monday at the Senior Bowl, but one of the players he coached over the last few seasons had a lot to say about the 72-year-old.
Southern California safety T.J. McDonald said that Cowboys players will love playing for Kiffin because of his passion for football and his surprisingly high energy level.
Yes, the second-oldest assistant coach in the NFL apparently is light on his feet and has no problem relating to players who are 50 years younger than him.

Cowboys coach Jason Garrett wasn’t with Jones on Monday to watch practice at the stadium as is usually the case. Instead, Garrett is holed up in a downtown hotel interviewing assistant coaches.
