Default Is this team cursed?

Seriously. I'm not assigning blame or bashing JJ or JG or anyone else, it just seems nothing can go right for us. Did JJ make a deal with the Devil to get those 3 rings in turn for 20 years of chaos? I'm not even saying that if he did it was a bad deal. It's just hard for a fan that grew up on Staubach, Landry, Dorsett, Doomsday and then got to enjoy the Triplets and Jimmy Johnson to endure.

Every time something positive happens to re-ignite the fires, something goes wrong like Ratliff or even the Callahan story. One step forward, two steps back, then one sideways, then one forward, then sideways.....

Cursed? I don't know. But the owner is always drunk.

More like when you have an owner who doesn't make rational or optimal decisions, you get the mediocrity that is the Cowboys.

You would think that after nearly 20 years of doing the same thing over and over, Jerry Jones would get the hint and go and hire a general manager... you would think he would hire a strong-willed head coach and move out the way... but yet it never happens. We continually get more of the Jones Circus. It's more about Jerry Jones getting attention and doing things his way than it is about winning, which is why we are destined for continued mediocrity.

Cursed? No. Terribly managed? Yes.

Jerry did say that he did make a deal to win that last one. I forget where I saw this.

I understand given the Josh Brent/Jerry Brown tragedy, you would think these guys would learn their lesson. Sadly this happens everywhere, even with the most successful teams...

Some good points. It's probably because the Boys are so popular that when it happens here it seems blown out of proportion.

No, not cursed. It's more likely a matter of being poorly managed and run over the past decade.

13 minute mark Jerry talks about the vow he made for 3rd Super Bowl.

Game, set, match.

See, this, to me, is an example of how we fans get tunnel-vision. We follow the Cowboys so closely, that we see things like Ratliff getting arrested and think, "this team is losing control of it's players! No wonder we never win anything!" All the while several players from playoff teams, including the two superbowl teams have players arrested just as much or more. So obviously, either those arrests show the same things about how poorly run those teams are or...wait for it...young men do stupid things no matter who they work for!

In all seriousness, this list was rather eye-opening with regards to how many players for successful teams have recent arrests. The Cowboys are not an unusual case at all.

This, although it's difficult to resist the temptation to blame this on the supposed Mickey Mouse Club House atmosphere at VR -- "come inside it's fun inside."

I think when you talk to other people that really play the quarterback position, there's a few guys that really have incredible greatness in them, and Tony is one of them. I think the issue here is he needs more help from his teammates. I think they are not nearly as talented as people say they are, from 1 to 53. I'm talking about the total roster.”

No, it is not cursed. It lacks a respected leader and a clear direction and it's been that way since the late 90's. Even Parcells could not overcome the circus that Jerry has created. It will stay this way until Jerry steps away from the football part of the team because a coach cannot lead a team without complete authority over the players. You also cannot keep changing coaches and philosophies every 4-6 years because there's always an adjustment period as you try and acquire the right players for the new system. If you look at the most successful teams over the last 15-20 years, they haven't changed coaches more than once or twice and most of the time, they hire from within or hire someone that keeps their strengths and systems together. Pick a proven philosophy and system, hire a respected coach that believes in them and can teach them, get the right players to run it, and continue with guys from that coaching tree. That to me is how you should run an NFL team. Jerry has done the complete opposite.
