If you look around the league at the best front offices, you see a pretty clear trend.....most are being led by guys who have worked their way up the scouting ranks.....often under already experienced, established NFL personnel men. The one exception being Belichick although he also has a very unique background and has spawned a tree of NFL front office personnel himself.
[View Full Quote]That's the one thing that Jerry is missing. He's never been a scout. He's never worked his way up the ranks scouting players, having his rankings discussed, evaluated and critiqued by peers and superiors. He's never refined that technique that would make him well qualified to lead a personnel department. As a result, he also can't critique, evaluate and discuss players with his scouts......or really even evaluate the job that they are doing.
Neither has the Cowboys Director of Player Personnel. Neither has the director of pro scouting.
Has nothing to do with what the media says.....it is simply observing what the Cowboys do versus what the rest of the successful teams in the league do.

Getting mad at Jerry, and misunderstanding what Jason Garrett has done, and then complaining about Tony Romo hardly constitutes constructive criticism, by the way. It's just tired, generalized complaining about the people in charge.
When asked whether Jason Garrett is the right head coach for this team: "I don't think there is anyone else that could. I think he is an unbelievable coach. We've responded to him and he has made us better football players, better people. If you watch us I think we play with a certain relentless spirit." --Sean Lee

and exactly who do you think you are?.....something special here?....
you havent even been here a year yet you have almost 4000 posts of nothing more than you showing us how much you detest "your team"...
instead of worrying about my constructive criticism maybe you ought to worry about whether you ever have anything constructive to add to threads other than to remind us how much Jerry/Jason/Romo sucks....
remember...there is always the ignore feature if you can no longer tolerate someone with something positive to say about the Cowboys.....

LOL you think "hey guys jerry has a great resume and is a football guy but that doesn't mean he shouldn't be fired or that he's done a good job or anything at all" is contributing to the discussion? you can't even finish your own point when others challenge you. how about you get off the sidelines and take a stance on something for once.

fair enough but how do you absolve all three of blame all the time? eventually someone has to be held accountable.

Once again for the slow people, Im responding the notion that Jerry is not a football guy, I didnt say hes done a great job over the last 17 years...im not saying he is best GM in the league....im merely saying in fact he is a football guy and asked for the list of GMs with better resumes....

This is a pointless argument because people are going to define "football guy" a million different ways. Just because Jerry played football and had enough money to buy a team doesn't mean he's a "football guy", at least not under the definition I believe most people have of that term.

It's not on his Cowboy bio, not in the bio written about him by Jim Dent, and if he was, he would scream from the hilltops that he was an all-SWC lineman. You put that in to pump up his resume, and it's not even accurate.
He also did not have final say on personnel when Johnson was in Dallas - Johnson had it written into his contract that he had full say over all on-field issues (personnel and coaching staff). No coach has had that since in Dallas.

It's not an attack - its pointing out an Inaccuracy that you put in to bolster a resume of an individual who is the fulcrum of a middling franchise the last 16 seasons.
Try not to be so sensitive when someone corrects an error.

I don't know how much power-stripping is actually going on, but it sure seems important for the superficial perception to be that it's enormous.

He was on the "Petros and Money" radio show in Fox Sports Radio tonight. They asked him about the moves and he said Jerry is stripping power from Garrett with the coaching moves he's made and that Cowboys players in Hawaii at the Pro Bowl are wondering what's going on. Also said people he's talked to in the NFL are confused by the Kiffin hire.
[View Full Quote]Before Glazer is branded as a "hater", he actually said in this interview that he thought the team was headed in the right direction under Garrett. He said all the players he's talked to said he gained a lot of respect with how he guided the team through the Josh Brent debacle. I believe his exact quote was that he "they had something good going on there" before Jerry intervened. He said he'd rather have Garrett calling plays than Bill Callahan.
Just passing the info along.

....WITHOUT YOUR 'INSIDE' KNOWLEDGE....we'd NEVER be able to ascertain what Jerrah is up to. I mean are you kidding me with this stuff?
