A Dance with Dragons worth getting in hardback?

I'm finishing up A Feast for Crows, and I've just realized the paperback version of A Dance with Dragons does not come out until March. Is the hardback edition worth it or should I wait for the paperback?

I would go to the library. I read them all on my Kindle. They're good, but I would likely never read them again.

Guess it depends on how bad you want to read it and if you are willing to visit the library.

Chances are you can get it at the library now.

When it was new it was always checked out at the local library so I went and bought the hard cover.

I enjoyed it.

However if you are a person that can wait...wait for the paperback.

Everything related to A Song of Ice and Fire is worth getting in every format. I have the Hardback, will buy the paperback, have it on my Nook!

Game of Thrones Season 3 can't get here soon enough ! Winds of Winter.. 2014 at the earliest, and I'm going to guess not until 2015.

Then after the series is completed I'll have to re buy it all in the collectors editions etc!

I was not thrilled with A Feast for Crows, personally. And what is the purpose of owning books in multiple formats? They're books... It's not even equivelant to owning a movie in multiple formats where there may be multiple forms of consumption (DVD, Bluray, Digital, etc).

Feast for Crows and Dance with Dragons are much like 1 big book, and are very similar in storyline pacing. They are slow and not much happens but everything is set up to a breaking point. Winds of Winter will start out with 3 separate battles about to take place, and you can be sure characters will die.

And there isn't a reason to own them in multiple formats if they are just books to you. For me, Song of Ice and Fire is the best work of fiction ever created, whether it be book/movie/comic whatever. Nothing compares for me. For each book in the series I have one for reading, one for my collection that is in perfect condition all but ACOK signed by Mr. Martin (working on it). And I have them for my Nook to look stuff up easier when I discuss various theories on the ASOIAF forums (really the sole reason I got them on my nook.. was for use with those forums). I prefer reading a book to a Ebook, but Ebooks are still handy.

That's dedication right there.

I was ready to strangle Martin after The Red Wedding. Stuck it out but Feast was just so much wandering with no direction that it got a little annoying. I don't mind slow pacing, but there's a difference between slow pacing and aimless wandering.

I got it in paperback on eBay for cheap. Look there.
