Default Cowboys: Ware for art thou

Troy? Troy State? Where are we? We’re in the right place, folks. Let me tell you firsthand, as a University of Missouri graduate, that Demarcus Ware might be from East Nowhere, Alabama, but he knows where to go: right at the quarterback. My fearless Tigers actually played at Troy last year; not sure how they found their way from Birmingham, but they got there … at least in theory they did.

But over the course of 3 1/2 hours, watching that game, I found out exactly who Ware was. He made six tackles, two for loss including a sack, against the less-than-intrepid Mizzou right tackle. He was everywhere, dragging down running backs from the back side and chasing Missouri QB Brad Smith — a decent guy on his feet, I might add — all night, forcing Smith into a nightmarish passing game.

Pencil Ware in at left outside linebacker in the Cowboys’ new 3-4 scheme or as an end when they go to the 4-3. Greg Ellis, who has lined up on both sides, could move to the right. Or we could see this all change in about two hours if Jerry Jones and Bill Parcells get the man they want at No. 20 (or higher) — LSU DT-DE Marcus Spears.

And credit Jones and Parcells for coming to an agreement and getting a pretty good football player. I hate to admit that of the three picks I have written about, I have endorsed (insert big yawn here) all three. But in this case, the Cowboys hit a double into the gap with this pick — all part of a rebuilding process on what was a decent defense two years ago.

He's got some skinny arms. We need him to bulk up a little this offseason.

They were telling a story about Ware's dedication this morning on The Ticket.

After the football season concluded and he was preparing for the combines, he still wanted to get his business degree so he continued going to classes, but also had to work out five hours a day for five days a week.

The story went something like he would wake up and work out, then drive 45 minutes to school and take a class. He'd then drive back home and work out more, and then make the drive back to school to take his next class.

Seems to have a pretty intense work ethic. Dedicated, at the very least.

Oh yeah, I'm sure he'll do everything they ask him to to get used to the NFL life, including gaining some much needed size. I like how Parcells said in his PC he was too old to coach thugs. It's nice to know we won't have anymore Antonio Bryants or Derek Ross to disappoint us now.

It thought so too at first... but he did 27 reps of 225 at the combine... he seems to be one of those with the long muscle structure...

That is pretty good for someone who looks that size. I just don't know what to think ever since Parcells made that LT comment. I hope we have a real special player on our hands. Small school, top DE/LB drafted, this could be a huge legendary draft pick or a bust. I can't wait to see which one it is.

I think he also has a 430 lbs. bench press. Not too bad for a guy who weighs around 250 lbs.

If that is true the guy is super strong in the arms. He has long arms which makes it harder to bench.

I doubt they want to "Beef him up" much...

He asset is his speed...4.5 in the 40 at that size is amazing...
He will be outstanding as a 3-4 OLB or a pass rush specialist!

Parcells is the man to get him to use those unique abilities well...

We all know he would have been wasted in a drop back zone in zimmy's passive awful occupy & engage crappy D...
